“Wild Nickname”: Fans In Stitches as Steph Curry Labels Himself and Seth Curry as “Rehab Brothers”

Brothers and Golden State Warriors teammates Steph Curry and Seth Curry watched from the sidelines in their team’s 110-107 loss to the New York Knicks on Sunday. The two-time MVP is hoping to return from a nagging knee injury, while his younger brother is nursing an adductor strain.

The older brother responded when asked by former NBA star and NBC Sports’ Reggie Miller about his experience playing with “baby bro”:

    “We’ve been the rehab brothers.”

The reply went viral, prompting fans to react. One fan wrote:

“Rehab brothers is a wild nickname, though.”

    Another fan added:

“Rehab brothers for life! Curry fam vibes.”

    One more fan continued:

“Steph and Seth really the ultimate duo.”

    Another fan commented:

“The NBA is just a family business for the Currys. Even in rehab, they are winning.”

    One fan tweeted:

“They really just two side characters right now.”

There was much hype when the Warriors signed Seth Curry to a one-year contract in October. However, due to salary cap restrictions, the Dubs had to waive the former Charlotte Hornets guard before re-signing him again in late November.

Steph Curry was on the inactive list when his younger brother debuted for the team in early November. The younger Curry suffered a back injury in his second outing, forcing the Dubs to keep him out for 40 games. Seth was reactivated a week ago, but couldn’t shake off the injury bug. He suffered a left groin strain that will keep him out for at least one more week, according to ESPN.

The NBA’s all-time 3-point shots leader is still trying to work his way back from a knee injury. He hasn’t played since Jan. 30 when the Warriors hosted the Detroit Pistons. Golden State’s game in New York was Curry’s 17th straight missed outing.

Warriors Nearly Pulled off Major Upset With Steph Curry, Seth Curry and Other Team Stars Out

The Warriors opened a brutal five-game road trip by holding out key players. Draymond Green, Kristaps Porzingis and De’Anthony Melton, given the night off, joined Steph Curry, Seth Curry and Al Horford (calf) on the bench. Without them, the Warriors’ makeshift roster gave the star-studded Knicks a big scare before going down 110-107.

The Dubs surprised the hosts by racing to a 35-21 advantage after the first quarter. Quinten Post, Brandin Podziemski, Will Richard and Gui Santos gave the team a big lift, particularly in the first half. Post’s jumper with 9:30 remaining in the second period pushed the Warriors’ lead to 46-29. According to ESPN, Golden State had an 82.3% chance to win after the big man scored.

New York steadily turned the game around behind Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, OG Anunoby and Karl-Anthony Towns. The Knicks’ veteran stars showed more poise in the stretch to prevent the upset.

Steph Curry, Seth Curry and Co. could only watch helplessly as the hobbled Warriors fell short in New York.
