OKC Thunder star Jalen Williams’ injury woes returned in Wednesday’s Game 2 against the Phoenix Suns after he left the floor in the third quarter. Williams didn’t get back on defense on one of the possessions after he drove to the rim. He exited the game and the Thunder reported that he had a left hamstring strain.
Williams played only 33 games this year. After initially missing games while recovering from a wrist surgery, Williams missed a huge portion of the season due to a right hamstring strain. Here’s the video of Williams injuring himself against the Suns:
Jalen Williams gets injured on his left hamstring.
Williams was on a tear to begin the 2026 playoffs after recovering from all of his injuries this year. He had 22 points, seven rebounds and six assists in Game 1 on 60.0% shooting. On Wednesday, he had 19 points and four assists on 7 of 11 shots. The extent of the injury hasn’t been reported, but OKC has listed him as questionable to return for the rest of the game.
It seems unlikely that he does, as the Thunder are up 23 with 8.3 seconds left in the third.
OKC Thunder take 2-0 lead despite late scare amid Jalen Williams’ injury absence
The OKC Thunder won Game 2 120-107 despite a late push by the Phoenix Suns after Jalen Williams went down with a hamstring injury. The Suns trailed by 26 at the start of the fourth, but cut that gap to 10 with 3:47 left after a Royce O’Neale 3. However, OKC kept its composure after the timeout, with Ajay Mitchell knocking down a 3 followed by a pair of free throws from Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
Devin Booker made one of his two free throws after that possession and Lu Dort closed the door for a comeback with an early dagger 3, stretching the Thunder’s lead by 15 with two minutes left. The Suns got a pair of free throws from O’Neale but couldn’t score another field goal as OKC proceeded to win the contest and protect homecourt before the teams head to Phoenix for the next two games.
