WATCH: Kevin Durant Stays Glued to His Phone Amid Burner Account and Leaked DMs Allegations During All-Star Game

Houston Rockets forward Kevin Durant is facing significant criticism on social media after a burner account on X, under the name @gethigher77, was linked to the two-time Finals MVP.

On Saturday, Durant engaged in conversation with a fan on X who criticized the NBA’s major trophy design changes in recent years. During the exchange, the fan called out Durant, alleging that he was the owner of @gethigher77.

Attached to this information was a thread containing multiple screenshots of messages from the burner account. These texts included criticism of Durant’s Rockets teammates, Jabari Smith and Alperen Sengun. Other texts also included criticism for his former teammates, Kyrie Irving, James Harden and Steph Curry.

After the claims went viral on X, fans shared videos of Durant’s behavior during the All-Star game. A video shared by the account @LogionHoops shows the forward walking around the arena with his phone in hand throughout the night.

Fans continue to claim that the account is his, even sharing screenshots they say are evidence. The pictures shared show KD’s fan pages sending @gethigher77 birthday wishes on Sep. 29, which matches Durant’s date of birth.

Kevin Durant has yet to publicly acknowledge the allegations, though many users on X are already treating him as the owner of the burner account.

While Kevin Durant has yet to acknowledge the claims of @gethigher77 being his official account, he hasn’t been completely silent on X. On Saturday, @NBATourDates shared a clip of Durant’s performance in the 2011 3-Point Contest, where he totaled just six points, shooting 5-for-25.

Durant was not happy with the clip resurfacing online more than a decade later and hit out at the fan, calling them “funky,” before asking for the clip to be deleted.

    “U funky mfer…delete this bro…please???”

The allegations against Kevin Durant have sparked discussions on social media about his situation with the Houston Rockets. He is averaging 25.8 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game, shooting 50.6%. The Rockets are holding fourth place in the Western Conference with a 33-20 record.
