The fanbase in Charlotte, collectively known as “The Hive,” was buzzing as the Hornets hosted the Miami Heat in their play-in matchup on Tuesday. With both teams’ season on the line, one avid Hornets supporter made himself comfortable inside Spectrum Center.
As the no. 9 vs. no. 10 game was underway, Grammy-nominated hip hop star DaBaby went viral as he took shots with two female fans courtside.
Even as the Hornets slugged it out with the Heat, fans couldn’t help but react to the good time that the “PBJT” rapper was having.
“This video goin platinum”
“Brodie bout to have a ball tonight”
“Why are they hugging him so tight”
“Bro is in heaven. he’s chilling out man”
“DaBaby really turned courtside into a whole party Bro watching the game like it’s halftime show energy every possession”
“Bro said forget the scoreboard, let’s take shots DaBaby living his best life at Heat vs Hornets game entertainment on 100”
As it turned out, DaBaby would have a reason to celebrate after the game as the Hornets survived an overtime thriller against a veteran-laden Heat squad.
With the Hornets down 114-111 in the dying seconds of regulation, Coby White hit a three to force an extra period. Then, with 4.7 seconds left in overtime and Charlotte trailing by one point, LaMelo Ball converted on a layup that gave the Hornets a 127-126 lead.
Miles Bridges blocked one last layup attempt from Davion Mitchell on the other end to eliminate the Heat and extend the Hornets’ postseason.
“Definitely a Little WWE There”: Udonis Haslem Reacts to Bam Adebayo’s Injury in Hornets-Heat Game
For the most part in this Hornets-Heat game, Miami did not have their All-Star big man Bam Adebayo, who headed to the locker room in the second quarter after a nasty fall on the baseline.
After the Hornets sealed the deal in overtime, “NBA on Prime” analyst Udonis Haslem had something to say about LaMelo Ball, who blatantly grabbed Adebayo’s leg and caused him to tumble in that sequence.
“LaMelo grabs Bam’s leg, definitely a little WWE there but what I will say is LaMelo is not a dirty player…The ref’s sitting right there…Something has to be called.”
Haslem, a Heat executive and three-time champion in Miami, could only watch as an Adebayo-less squad fell short against the home team on Tuesday.
