“Tatum’s Gonna Research About Dreams”: NBA Fans Mock Lamar Odom’s Wild Dream About Kobe Bryant

Former NBA player Lamar Odom grabbed headlines on Friday after a portion of his interview on the “Double3 Coverage” was posted by a basketball site on X. In the clip, Odom said that his former LA Lakers teammate, the late legend Kobe Bryant, appeared to him in a dream. The two-time NBA champ’s story prompted fans to react.

    One fan wrote:

“Now Tatum’s gonna research about dreams.”

    Another fan added:

“That’s just the drugs doing the talking unfortunately.”

    One more fan continued:

“Ni**a just lying for no reason.”

    Another fan commented:

“Whether it was a dream or not, Kobe Bryant clearly still lives in the minds of the people who loved him.”

    One fan tweeted:

“Cornball, even worse than Jayson Tatum texting him.”

Jayson Tatum has been dragged into the reactions due to the Boston Celtics superstar’s history with the “Black Mamba.” Tatum idolized the five-time NBA champ, whom he patterned his game and work ethic after. Bryant became Tatum’s mentor, a relationship the JT sometimes refers to in interviews.

In Lamar Odom’s interview, he said that Bryant told him that “the afterlife is not what people make it up to be.” Odom continued that he didn’t know what his former teammate meant with that message. The 2011 NBA Most Improved Player winner speculated on multiple reasons why KB24 gave him that talk.

Odom and Bryant played together on the Lakers from 2004-05 to 2010-11. The former Heat forward was part of the package that LA received from Miami for Shaquille O’Neal. Odom, Bryant and Paul Gasol led the Lakers to the 2009 and 2010 championships.

Lamar Odom’s Most Successful NBA Stretch Came Playing Alongside Kobe Bryant

Lamar Odom made the playoffs just once in his first five NBA seasons. He didn’t make the postseason until his only stint with the Miami Heat, during the 2003-04 campaign.

Odom’s most successful stretch in the NBA came following his trade to the LA Lakers. As a crucial part of Kobe Bryant’s supporting cast, he appeared in the playoffs in six of seven seasons with the Purple and Gold franchise.

The versatile forward was one of the NBA’s best coming off the bench. He eventually won the Sixth Man of the Year award in 2011, a year after the Lakers won back-to-back championships.

Lamar Odom struggled in his last two seasons after leaving the Lakers. He had forgettable stints with the Dallas Mavericks and the LA Lakers before retiring in 2013.
