Steph Curry Play-In Minutes Under Scrutiny Ahead of Do-or-Die Clash Against Clippers

The stakes are high for Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors when facing the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday in the Play-In Tournament to determine which team will take on the Phoenix Suns for the final spot in the NBA playoffs. LA had the upper hand in the regular-season series between the two teams, going 3-1, including a 115-110 win in the season finale, but will they be able to do it again?

The Warriors got back Curry last week, as the 38-year-old guard returned to the lineup for the first time in 27 games. While his impact was immediately noticeable, it seems the team isn’t quite ready to ramp him to full minutes just yet. Curry was initially placed on a 25-minute restriction, coming off the bench, before starting the last two games. He logged 27 minutes in a 124-118 loss to the Sacramento Kings and 29 minutes in a loss to the Clippers.

Curry’s recovery has focused on fully strengthening his knee to ensure there’s no risk of re-aggravating the injury, and it looks like limited minutes may still be part of an ongoing process.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr also insinuated that the decision to limit Curry’s workload isn’t entirely his own, but rather a collective call from the team. Asked on Tuesday if Curry would continue to see limited minutes in a win-or-go-home situation, Kerr doubled down.

“Yeah, there will be, but I don’t know exactly what that number will be,” he said, noting that the two-time MVP won’t play 40 minutes. “He’s had four games now. He’s stretched up to almost 30. With the two days off, he should be able to get at least that, and then hopefully one more.”

While Curry’s minutes are still anything but certain, the Warriors star recently stated that he would like to return to playing his ‘normal minutes.’

Steph Curry continues to be the heartbeat of the Golden State Warriors. He’s averaging 26.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 4.7 assists this season. With a 20.25 average over his last four games, they will need a big performance from Curry on Wednesday.

How has Steph Curry fared against the LA Clippers?

Steph Curry has faced the Clippers in 57 regular-season games. He holds a 35–22 record in those matchups while averaging 25.5 points, 4.7 rebounds and 5.9 assists.

However, in recent times, the results haven’t been as favorable, with the Golden State winning just four of their last 16 matchups.
