On Friday, Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown watched highlights of Steph Curry’s play-in tournament performance against the LA Clippers two nights earlier. On his Twitch channel, Brown reacted to the two-time MVP’s 3-pointer with 50.4 seconds remaining to give the Dubs a 120-117 lead.
Brown paused his video for a moment before telling fans:
“Steph Curry is one of the five greatest players that have ever played in this game at this point in his career. Y’all can say whatever y’all want, fill in the rest. Steph Curry is top 5, bro.
In the win-or-go-home game against the Clippers, Curry scored 27 of his 35 points in the second half. The superstar point guard’s 11 points in the final 10 minutes, which included the dagger 3-pointer, helped drag the Warriors to a 126-121 win.
Brown talked about Curry’s leadership, which is evident in his refusal to quit the season due to a nagging injury. Against the Clippers, he played 36 minutes, his most since he had 41 in an overtime game against the Toronto Raptors in late December.
Without Jimmy Butler and Moses Moody, two starters, Curry, with some major help from Draymond Green, kept the Warriors’ season alive. They will face the Phoenix Suns on Friday in a highly anticipated battle for the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference playoffs.
Jaylen Brown Had Front-Row Ticket in 2023 to Steph Curry’s Greatness
In Game 4 of the 2023 NBA Finals, Brown’s Celtics had a chance to put Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors into a 1-3 hole. Curry shook off a nagging foot issue to drop 43 points in front of a raucous and hostile TD Garden crowd.
Curry’s electric performance pushed the Warriors to a 107-97 win to tie the series at two games apiece before the Dubs hosted Game 5 in the Bay Area for another win.
Curry again put on a show in Game 6 in Boston for the series-clinching victory. Curry scored 34 points on 12-for-21 shooting, including 6-for-11 from deep. He added seven rebounds, seven assists and two steals for yet another dazzling display from the point guard.
Brown matched Curry with 34 points after making 12 of 23 shots, including 5 of 11 from 3-point distance. The Warriors, though, played with poise and made the decisive plays on both ends to win their fourth championship in the Curry era.
