Steph Curry Appears to Avoid Serious Injury After Scary Ankle Landing Goes Viral

Golden State Warriors guard Steph Curry will be considering himself lucky Wednesday night after appearing to escape a scary incident without serious injury.

Curry extended the Warriors’ playoff hopes temporarily by putting on a clinical performance, leading his team to a decisive victory over the Clippers in a do-or-die play-in matchup.

In a game defined by his splashing long threes and never-give-up attitude, Curry tallied 35 points, four rebounds and three assists to secure a 126-121 win for Golden State. He also went 12-for-23 from the field, including 7-for-12 from deep.

A few hours after the game, a video went viral showing Curry rolling his ankle during a celebration, but his braces helped him avoid any serious discomfort or injury. The sneaker free agent laced up in Kobe Protro shoes.

The scariest part of the clip is how close it came to causing an injury, something that had the potential to be disastrous.

Here’s a look at the moment:

Curry also limped off the court and into the locker room in the first quarter, but returned shortly after. The 38-year-old ended up playing 36 minutes, his second-highest total of the season, and his most since returning from a two-month injury layoff. He moved well for most of the game as well, a huge relief for all Warriors fans.

Steph Curry and Draymond Green Turn Back the Clock in Play-In Thriller

While Steph Curry’s masterclass stole the spotlight, Draymond Green’s impact cannot be overlooked. The veteran forward also sparked Golden State’s resurgence by locking down Kawhi Leonard to just two points in the final quarter.

Green is one of the most intelligent and technically skilled players in the game. He rose to the occasion when the Warriors needed him most. Both Green and Curry, the only two remaining members of the Warriors’ dynasty core, turned back the clock with vintage showings.

While Curry stuffed the stat sheet offensively, Green finished with four steals, six rebounds, and nine assists, along with seven points. With this performance, Green showed he’s still one of the best defenders in the league.
