As he has done many times in his career, Steph Curry saved the Golden State Warriors in the clutch on Wednesday night, hitting a deep three late in their play-in matchup against the LA Clippers to help secure the 126-121 victory.
After dealing with injuries for a significant chunk of the regular season, Curry kept the Warriors’ playoff hopes alive, scoring 35 points on 12-for-23 shooting from the field. After the latest heroics from the four-time NBA champion, fans expressed their adulation for Curry on social media.
“Please don’t ever retire Curry”
“CURRY TAKING US STRAIGHT TO THE BANK! The engine never lies. Winners win. We are winners.”
“35 in 36 minutes… this man is ridiculous”
“Greatest PG of all time, depending on what else he accomplishes, itching for legit GOAT status.”
“Greatest player to ever walk the earth”
“HE COMPLETELY RIPPED THE HEART OUT OF THE CLIPPERS!!!!”
As the Warriors fought for dear life in the fourth quarter, they got valuable contributions from the likes of Kristaps Porzingis and Gui Santos on the offensive end. Meanwhile, former Defensive Player of the Year Draymond Green suffocated the production of Kawhi Leonard, who was held to just two points in the last 24 minutes.
None of them, though, came close to the highlight that Steph Curry created with the score tied at 117 and less than a minute left in the fourth quarter. Drawing Clippers center Brook Lopez on a switch, Curry took a step back and launched a deep three.
The Warriors went on to build a comfortable cushion that allowed them to complete the comeback victory and eliminate the Clips. Golden State faces the Phoenix Suns on Friday for the last playoff berth in the Western Conference.
Viral Clip Shows Jimmy Butler’s Reaction to Steph Curry’s Heroics in Play-in Game
Jimmy Butler, who is still recovering from a torn ACL, could only watch as the Steph Curry and the rest of the Warriors competed in the hostile environment of Intuit Dome.
But, when Curry hit the go-ahead three late in the fourth quarter, Butler had an extremely satisfied smile on his face.
The Warriors’ “Robin” still won’t be suiting up, but “Batman” has once again wreaked havoc on their postseason opponents.
