The Phoenix Suns and OKC Thunder resume their 2026 NBA playoffs first-round series on Wednesday. As many expected, the Thunder took a 1-0 lead with a 119-84 blowout win in Game 1. They took a 15-point lead in the first quarter, which ballooned to a 21-point advantage at the half, making it an improbable task for Phoenix to force a comeback.
The Suns will hope to keep things under control early to give themselves a chance in Wednesday’s attempt. However, the Thunder remain the heavy favorites.

Suns vs. Thunder Game 2 Preview
The Phoenix Suns got off to a decent start, taking a 10-7 lead a few minutes into Game 1. However, a momentum-darling play from Dillon Brooks allowed the Thunder to regroup and leave their imprint on the game. Brooks committed a flagrant foul on Chet Holmgren, which began the Thunder’s rampage on both ends of the court. They went on a 10-2 run and kept the pressure on their opponents for the rest of the night.
Devin Booker finished with 23 points and six rebounds on 47.1% shooting, while Dillon Brooks scored 18 on 27.3% shooting and Jalen Green added 17 on 37.5% shooting. Brooks and Green struggled due to OKC’s ball-pressure and tough contests. The Suns overall couldn’t protect the ball as well as they would have liked, committing 17 turnovers.
Meanwhile, the OKC Thunder played their brand of basketball and reaped benefits. That was despite Shai Gilgeous-Alexander shooting a measly 5 of 18 from the floor. Nevertheless, he managed to make 17 trips to the foul line and converted 15 shots to finish with 25 points. Jalen Williams was excellent with 22 points on 60.0% shooting, while Chet Holmgren added 16 with two steals and two blocks.
The Thunder didn’t do much wrong, but should look to be more efficient from 3-point range. They shot 30.4% from deep on 49 attempts.
