This will be the fifth time Orlando and Detroit meet in the postseason and the first time since 2008. The teams met three times in the first round of the playoffs, with the Pistons winning the series 2-1. Their only other postseason meeting came in the 2008 Eastern Conference semifinals, which Detroit won 4-1 before eventually losing to the eventual champion Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference finals.
