Nuggets vs Clippers Preview
Denver has been hit hard by injuries and welcomed the All-Star break, especially with Aaron Gordon and Peyton Watson sidelined for an extended stretch due to right hamstring sprains just as Nikola Jokic returned to action.
The Nuggets have gone 2-4 over their last six games and begin a three-game road swing with a stop at the Intuit Dome, where Jokic and Jamal Murray recently suited up in the All-Star Game.
Despite winning just twice in six February outings, Denver has still posted the league’s fourth-best offensive rating during that stretch.
Meanwhile, the Clippers have fully transitioned into the Kawhi Leonard era, with Leonard averaging a career-high 27.9 points per game this season. He also shone at the All-Star Game, pouring in 31 points in just 12 minutes, and now has added depth around him, including Bennedict Mathurin, who has averaged 12.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.0 steals in his first two appearances with the team.
Los Angeles ranks last in the league in field goal attempts, and Zubac’s departure could further hurt them in the battle for possessions. However, they remain efficient, ranking No. 8 in 2-point percentage and No. 9 in 3-point accuracy.
The Clippers will also be without Darius Garland, who continues to recover from a left toe injury.
Prediction
With Leonard at the helm, the Clippers have looked sharp and enter with stronger form. With added rest, they could challenge a Nuggets squad whose depth has been significantly depleted.
Our prediction: Clippers win by 7.
