NBA star LaMelo Ball was involved in a car crash on Wednesday in Uptown Charlotte, according to multiple reports. Ball, driving a custom-built Hummer, came out of the collision unscathed. The Hornets’ franchise point guard left his damaged vehicle and got into a Lamborghini after talking to the police.
The Charlotte Observer reported that the police have not yet released details of the incident, which happened at the “intersection of South Tryon and West Trade streets.” The same report continued that one person, who suffered minor injuries, was taken to a hospital.
Although described as a “minor collision,” the left front end of Ball’s unmistakable Hummer came off. The camouflaged colored vehicle tilted on the left side as onlookers and the police arrived at the scene.
Videos showed that the two vehicles barely avoided a head-on collision. The driver of the sedan immediately got out to approach the Hummer, which had come to a full stop on the side of the street. Ball reportedly stayed inside the vehicle until the police arrived.
According to multiple witnesses interviewed by The Charlotte Observer, LaMelo Ball’s Hummer crashed into a sedan. Like Ball’s vehicle, the sedan’s left front tire was also damaged by the collision.
The former All-Star and the Hornets have yet to give a statement following the viral incident.

The Charlotte Hornets were arguably the hottest team heading into the All-Star break. Since late Jan. 22, they have a 10-1 record. During that stretch, they earned wins over the Orlando Magic, Philadelphia 76ers, San Antonio Spurs, Houston Rockets and Atlanta Hawks. Charlotte’s only blemish during that span was a controversial 110-104 loss to the Detroit Pistons that saw four players ejected.
LaMelo Ball has played a major role in the Hornets’ sizzling stretch. The point guard averaged 18.9 points, 6.8 assists and 4.1 rebounds during his team’s incredible run. Charlotte had the best offensive rating in the NBA during their 10-1 record.
Charlotte’s sizzling form has pushed the team to the No. 9 seed in the Eastern Conference. If Ball and Co. can sustain their superb run, they have a legitimate shot at earning a guaranteed playoff spot.
