Kevin Durant’s Burner Account Allegations Discussed Publicly on National Television During Rockets vs. Knicks Game

A week after the so-called “KD Files” took the internet by storm, the NBA community is still buzzing about the explosive private messages allegedly sent by Kevin Durant. Indeed, it was only a matter of time before the NBA’s media partners broached the subject on national TV.

During ESPN’s coverage of the Saturday night showdown between Durant’s Rockets and the New York Knicks, sideline reporter Lisa Salters pointed out an interesting detail regarding the KD Files.

“What KD did not say was that the account was not his,” Salters reported. “With KD neither confirming nor denying the allegations, the speculations are just kind of left out there. And you have to wonder if it’s having any effect on the Rockets locker room.”

Salters is referring to a media availability shortly after the All-Star break, in which Kevin Durant was directly asked if he owned the burner account that had supposedly sent the controversial messages. Instead of directly disowning the account, Durant danced around the question.

“I know you were gonna ask these questions, but I’m not here to get into Twitter nonsense,” the two-time NBA champion said at the time.

For what it’s worth, Durant and the Rockets took care of business in their first game since the KD Files went viral. In a 105-101 victory over the Charlotte Hornets, Durant dropped 35 points on 14-for-20 shooting from the field.

The proof will have to be in the pudding for the Rockets squad, as the KD Files include some flippant attacks against young Rockets players like Alperen Sengun and Jabari Smith Jr.

“Maybe We Already Know the Truth”: Kevin Durant’s Buddy Draymond Green Weighs in on “KD Files” Controversy

Among the NBA personalities who have offered their insights on the latest Kevin Durant controversy is Draymond Green, who won two NBA titles with the former scoring champion when they played together in Golden State.

“Maybe one day we’ll know the truth. Maybe we already know the truth,” Green said on a recent episode of his self-titled podcast. “Who knows, I don’t know.”

Green, who had an infamous on-court altercation with Durant during the 16-time All-Star’s last season with the Warriors, said that he would have personally addressed the controversy “publicly” as soon as the matter got out of hand.
