The Minnesota Timberwolves got bad news on the injury front on Saturday. The team placed Anthony Edwards on the injury report with knee injury maintenance ahead of their Game 1 Round 1 matchup in the 2026 NBA Playoffs against the Denver Nuggets.
Edwards has been dealing with a knee issue for most of the season, which forced him to miss 11 of the final 14 regular-season games, including the season finale. In total, he missed 21 games this year, which also disqualified him from postseason awards. While it is understood Edwards is doing everything in his power to be available, the injury is considered delicate. If his recovery is rushed, there is a risk Minnesota could lose him for a longer period.
It is similar to the injury Steph Curry went through that caused him to miss two months of action. However, the positive sign is that Edwards has recovered enough to participate in practice ahead of the first-round series.
Head coach Chris Finch also provided an encouraging update, stating that Anthony Edwards was “full go” in team practice this week. Chris Hine of the Minnesota Star Tribune also noted that Edwards put in extra work in Denver after all players left, going through individual drills before leaving the facility with ice on both knees. He is expected to suit up barring any last-minute setback before tipoff.

Anthony Edwards has faced the Denver Nuggets 22 times in the regular season so far. He holds a slight edge with a 12-10 record in those matchups, averaging 24.0 points, 5.1 rebounds and 4.3 assists.
Edwards and the Timberwolves also share a postseason history against Denver. The four-time NBA All-Star has faced the Nuggets in 12 playoff games and holds a 5-7 record, while averaging 29.3 points, 5.1 rebounds and 5.5 assists
