“Gonna Get Fined On His Off Day”: Fans React to Ja Morant Doing Gun Celebration Courtside After Desmond Bane’s Triple

Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr., former teammates of Desmond Bane, watched the Orlando Magic’s Game 4 showdown against the Detroit Pistons on Monday. After Bane hit a 3-pointer early in the fourth quarter, Morant brought back his controversial gun celebration.

One fan reacted to Morant’s antic:

“Gonna get fined on his off day.”

    Another fan added:

    “Fine coming from the bench.”

    One more fan continued:

“‘Mistah Silva’ can’t do s**t about it.”

    Another fan commented:

    “Still GRIZZ nation.”

    One fan tweeted:

“Think it’s cool to see them both there supporting Bane and being at a game.”

On April 4, 2025, the NBA fined Ja Morant $75,000 for the same celebration in a game against the Miami Heat. The league called his action “inappropriate” and added that it had “warned” the Memphis Grizzlies superstar from repeating gun finger gestures in games. It remains to be seen how the league will react after Morant replicated the same action he was prohibited from doing.

Morant has never been one to shy away from controversy. While on the bench cheering for Bane, he couldn’t resist hyping up his former teammate’s 3-pointer by busting out the controversial double gun finger gesture.

Ja Morant and Desmond Bane played together in Memphis for five years. During that time, they formed the core of the franchise, along with Jaren Jackson Jr. Bane was traded to the Orlando Magic before the 2025-26 season, while Jackson was shipped to Utah in February. The Grizzlies reportedly tried to move Morant before the trade deadline but couldn’t get the return package they expected from the former All-Star guard.

Although no longer teammates, the three continue to be close friends. Morant and Jackson are in Orlando to support Bane in the pivotal Game 4 encounter against the Eastern Conference’s top seed.

Desmond Bane Leads Magic To Pivotal Game 4 Win Against Pistons With Ja Morant, Jaren Jackson Jr. Watching

Desmond Bane did not disappoint his former teammates, Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr., who visited him in Orlando for Game 4. Bane shook off what looked like a hamstring injury in Game 3 to lead the Magic.

Bane finished with a team-high 22 points on 7-for-18 shooting, including 5-for-10 from deep. He added five rebounds, one assist and one steal in the Magic’s 94-88 win. Orlando now holds a 3-1 series lead before the series returns to Detroit for Game 5.
