Steph Curry gave a candid assessment of the rivalry between the Golden State Warriors and the Sacramento Kings. The Dubs faced and defeated the Kings, 137-103, on Friday. Curry was key in the win, finishing with a game-high 27 points, along with 10 assists, shooting 6-for-12 from 3-point range.
After the game, the media asked Curry for his thoughts on fans who believe there is a real rivalry between the teams. The four-time champion did not hold back while answering.
“Geographically, yeah. That’s about it,” Curry said about the Warriors-Kings rivalry.
The notion of a rivalry comes from the recent history between the teams. Steph Curry and his Warriors eliminated the Kings in the first round of the 2023 playoffs. Sacramento came back next season and defeated Golden State in the 2024 play-in tournament.
Steph Curry has played 50 regular-season games against the Kings and has won 36 of those matchups. He averages 24.2 points, 6.9 assists and 5.0 rebounds per game against them, shooting 48.7%, including 43.3% from 3-point range. After Friday’s win, the Warriors have improved to 21-18 for the season.
Steph Curry lists his preferred presenters for future Hall of Fame induction
Steph Curry boasts a legendary resume and will undoubtedly be inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. On Wednesday, during an interview with Vince Carter, the two-time MVP was asked to name his preferred lineup of presenters for the special occasion.
“I mean, you,” Curry told Carter, “Steve Nash, Reggie Miller and Ray are the names that I think off the top of my head.”
Curry holds a special connection with Ray Allen and Reggie Miller as the debate for the best shooter ever was between these two before the Warriors guard changed the game with his prolific shooting. Carter was a teammate of his father, Dell Curry. Lastly, Curry has credited Nash for influencing his game during his time as Golden State’s development consultant.
Curry has 1,053 career games and counting. He averages 24.8 points, 6.3 assists and 4.7 rebounds for his career, while shooting 47.1%, including 42.2% from 3-point range. The four-time champion is one of the few active NBA players who are certain to be inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.
The Warriors will look to capitalize on their eight-game homestand. They have already grabbed two wins, defeating the Milwaukee Bucks and the Kings. Solid showings over the upcoming stretch will be key in helping the team recover from its difficult schedule to start the season.
