Former NBA Champion Makes Audacious Jalen Brunson Claim as Knicks Stand on Verge of History

The New York Knicks are on the verge of making history, and Jalen Brunson is the hero of it all. He has led the team to its first NBA Finals since 1999, and a championship will make it even more historic. The franchise’s last title win came in 1973. Former NBA champion Paul Pierce has declared what it would mean for Brunson.

Brunson came to the Knicks after being a second fiddle to Luka Doncic in the Dallas Mavericks. The team trusted him and brought him as the face of the franchise in 2022, signing him to a four-year, $104 million deal. He has performed consistently since then, and his hard work, with a 6-foot-2 size, has been top-notch.

Former Boston Celtics legend Paul Pierce believes the city needs to build a statue, akin to the great Statue of Liberty, if he wins them a championship after five decades. He shared a post on Instagram, in which the Statue of Liberty has Brunson’s face on it, and wrote:

“Either put his face on this one or start building his now 🤦🏾‍♂️🙄🫡😳👐🏾👊🏾.”

Meanwhile, Brunson faced some difficulty shooting the ball in Game 2, as he shot just 28% from the field and 25% from deep, which is unlike him. However, he had five steals that showed the increased intensity he had on defense when his shots were not going in. However, Karl-Anthony Towns saved the day on offense.

NBA reportedly looking into Spurs fans using profanity at Jalen Brunson

Jalen Brunson was not happy at the end of Game 1, though the Knicks won. He was seen in conversation with the referee Scott Foster when two fans started throwing shade at Brunson for “flopping.” The Knicks guard appeared to be moving towards them when the team came and escorted him to the bench.

And now, insider Chris Haynes reported that the league was looking into the altercation, as Brunson met with the officials after the game over fans’ behavior. The analyst wrote on X:

“Sources: NBA is looking into two courtside fans who allegedly directed vulgar profane “flopping” remarks towards Knicks star Jalen Brunson late in Game 1 of Finals. Brunson met with official Scott Foster after the game to address the fans’ behavior to which the remarks continued.”

Jalen Brunson hasn’t been mentioned in flopping conversations, as he is one of the NBA’s elite shifty guards who focuses solely on hard work. The “flopping” chants might just be unhappy Spurs fans disappointed with their team’s difficult and close loss.

Meanwhile, the Knicks guard will look to move on from Game 2 woes and focus on the next game back home at MSG. The team has already taken a commanding 2-0 lead in the series.
