Former NBA player Patrick Beverley has once again felt the wrath of NBA fans after doubling down on Damian Lillard’s Hall of Fame case. It’s almost playoff time, and there’s plenty of news to discuss, but Beverley, who now has a new podcast after being booted from Barstool Sports over legal issues, decided that now was the perfect time to stir the pot.
The 37-year-old took aim at Lillard’s career on his new podcast, claiming that putting up points on average teams won’t make him Hall of Fame material.
Many didn’t seem too pleased with Pat Bev’s comments, including former NBA guard Brandon Jennings, who fired back with a strong message:
“If you Top 75 in NBA you are a HOF,” Jennings said.
Beverley, however, tried to shift the argument without grasping the full context, replying:
“That’s Cap So Dwight Howard or Kyrie aren’t hall of fame?”
Fans immediately pounced on his comment, calling him “terrible,” “slow,” and accusing him of poor reading comprehension.
Here’s a look at some of the fan reactions on X:
“Lmfao are you slow? He’s saying if you are in you are HALL! lol nothing about who’s not in”
“Reading comprehension is key lol his tweet didn’t say that if you aren’t in the top 75 then you’re not a hall of famer”
“Your dumbass brain so fried LMAO”
“Jeez… comprehension skills are in the gutter”
“D**khead learn to read… Top 75 = HOF
HOF ≠ Top 75
Patrick just wants to stay relevant by any means necessary no matter how dumb he sounds or looks”
Damian Lillard Destined for NBA Hall of Fame With or Without Ring
Damian Lillard has put together a splendid career that could easily land him among the all-time greats. He’s a Rookie of the Year winner, seven-time All-NBA selection, nine-time All-Star, Olympic gold medalist, and a member of the famed NBA 75 Team.
On top of that impressive list, he’s a three-time winner of the Three-Point Contest at the All-Star Game, an NBA Cup champion, and holds a handful of other accolades in Portland Trail Blazers history. He’s also one of the most feared clutch shooters in the league.
As chatter continues to ramp up about Lillard’s Hall of Fame case, he still has plenty of time to collect a few more awards before retiring. At 35, Dame still has a few good years left. Even if he doesn’t win a championship ring in his career, he remains one of the most decorated players in Portland history.
Before his career ends, Lillard is projected to finish with around 26,876 points, maybe more. That would put him ahead of numerous other Hall of Famers.
