Dwyane Wade Makes Emotional Demand to LeBron James as Retirement Inches Closer

Dwyane Wade has one request to LeBron James that will have to wait until the LA Lakers superstar retires. With James likely hanging up his jersey in the next few years, Wade might finally get what he has been waiting for years to have.

On “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” on Thursday, Wade opens up about owning an iconic photo of his legendary play with James. When asked by Fallon about the picture, the basketball Hall of Famer responded:

“I have it, and it hasn’t gone signed yet by LeBron (James). I’m actually waiting till he retires in maybe 2038. I already know what retirement gift I want him to give me when he retires, and it’s just a signature of this photo.”

On Dec. 6, 2010, photographer Morry Gash captured the photo of LeBron James finishing off a pass from Dwyane Wade with a rim-rattling dunk. The play happened early in the first quarter when the Miami Heat visited the Milwaukee Bucks.

After Wade grabbed the loose ball, he streaked to the other end to ignite a transition attack. The Heat guard spotted Carlos Arroyo on the corner, but saw James tracking him from behind. Wade bounced the ball back to his 6-foot-9 teammate, who executed an awe-inspiring tomahawk dunk.

Gash, who sat under the Heat basket, captured the moment Wade raised both arms just as James cocked the ball back for the slam.

Dwyane Wade Reiterated He Dished Bounced Pass Instead of Lobbing Ball to LeBron James

The caption on the post made “The Tonight Show” said that it was an “alley-oop” pass that Dwyane Wade made to LeBron James. Over the years, due to the iconic photo, people quickly assume that Wade threw a lob to James for the dunk.

As he has done on multiple occasions, Wade again emphasized on Jimmy Fallon’s show the real story behind the legendary play:

“You can hear LeBron trucking behind you. You can hear the 16s hitting the court. You can hear the 16s like, ‘Pam, pam, pam,’ so you know he’s coming. Actually, it was a bounce pass; it’s not a lob. A lot of people think it’s an alley (oop). It’s actually a bounce pass. I just threw it back and put my hands up ‘cause I knew what was coming.”

Dwyane Wade and LeBron James had many dazzling plays during their Miami Heat days. Wade just wants to ensure people remember what really happened when he and James had their most iconic moment together.
