Dallas Mavericks vs Los Angeles Lakers Starting Lineups and Depth Charts Tonight (Feb. 12)

The Dallas Mavericks will look to snap their recent losing streak when they play the LA Lakers on Thursday. This is the third meeting between the two teams, with LA leading the series 2‑0.

Dallas enters the contest having lost each of its past eight games. Its most recent defeat came at the hands of the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday night, a game in which Dallas got to the free-throw line 44 times.

In fact, the Mavs have held leads in most of their recent losses, while in other games they have been outplayed on both ends of the floor. Ultimately, that has left Dallas in 12th place in the Western Conference standings, one game below 11th-place Memphis and one game above 13th-place Utah Jazz. Perhaps their uphill climb will begin after the All-Star Weekend break.

The Lakers, meanwhile, will be aiming for a bounce-back. LA was blown out in every aspect on Tuesday, falling to the San Antonio Spurs 136‑108, succumbing to a stellar performance by Victor Wembanyama, who scored 37 points in the first half alone.

The Lakers used an undermanned lineup with many of their starters, including Luka Doncic, LeBron James, Marcus Smart, Austin Reaves and Deandre Ayton, missing. The loss moved them back to sixth place, with the Houston Rockets and Minnesota Timberwolves overtaking them in the standings.

Going into this matchup, the Mavericks were dealt a blow, with Cooper Flagg landing on the injury report. The Rookie of the Year frontrunner was listed out with a foot sprain he suffered in Tuesday’s loss to the Suns. There is also uncertainty surrounding Naji Marshall (foot) and Caleb Martin (ankle), as both were listed as questionable.

Klay Thompson would likely replace Flagg in the starting five. He joins Daniel Gafford, P.J. Washington, Tyus Jones and Max Christie for Tuesday’s tilt.

The Lakers will also be quite shorthanded, missing Luka Doncic. This is Doncic’s fourth consecutive game absent due to a lingering hamstring injury. He is set to miss the NBA All-Star Weekend. Deandre Ayton, who missed the previous game against the Spurs, is listed as questionable due to a knee injury.

Meanwhile, LeBron James, Marcus Smart, and Austin Reaves, who missed the last game, are available to play. Barring any late setbacks, the Lakers are most likely to roll with LeBron James, Jake LaRavia, Austin Reaves, Jaxson Hayes and Marcus Smart.
