Carmelo Anthony found himself at the center of a heated interaction after being compared to Draymond Green over career achievements. The 10-time NBA All-Star reacted furiously when Dan Patrick pressed Reggie Miller to pick between Melo and Green.
Miller recently appeared on Patrick’s show and provided NBA fans with a great interview, which comes as no surprise given Miller’s entertaining personality. During his appearance, the hosts asked Miller whose career he would rather have. Miller notably brought up the prospect of four-time NBA champion Green and one of the league’s most lethal scorers, Anthony.
However, Miller, who made one appearance in the NBA Finals, made a clear distinction between the two, saying:
“It’s all about the chips. They’re both going to be Hall of Famers. Melo is a Hall of Famer already, and Draymond is going to be a Hall of Famer. One just has four rings and a Defensive Player of the Year.”
Dan Patrick then pointed out how much freedom Anthony had to take shots throughout his career. Miller responded:
“That was his game, though. He’s a top 10 scorer. Carmelo is a bona fide bucket, but they’re both Hall of Famers at the end of the day. And one gets to drink bub four times. To me, chips matter. They do. Coming from a guy who never won one.”
Melo did not hold back, taking to the comments section with a sharp response:
“Please keep me out of your mess! This is utterly ridiculous. Don’t compare me to anyone. This is stupid as sh*t.”
He took the frustration to an even higher level, calling out Dan Patrick:
“Dan Patrick, y’all bugging. Play with someone else.”
The frustration was understandable. While Carmelo Anthony did not win a championship, he is still considered one of the best scorers in NBA history. He averaged 22.5 points and 6.2 rebounds while shooting 44.7% across 19 years in the league.
Draymond Green, meanwhile, built a Hall of Fame resume with four championships during the Golden State Warriors dynasty. But both players are completely different players, and NBA fans often like to debate the merits of current players in comparison to past legends. The aforementioned parallels between Green and Anthony make for an interesting topic of discussion among many supporters. However, Anthony’s reaction made it crystal clear that he is done entertaining ring-based comparisons altogether.
