Anthony Edwards Knee Injury: Timberwolves Star Leaves Game 3 Win in Discomfort as Major Concerns Loom

As the Timberwolves stormed past the Nuggets to win Game 3 and take a 2-1 series lead on Thursday, concerns loomed for Anthony Edwards amid his knee injury woes. The Timberwolves star left the game multiple times after he looked in discomfort due to the ailment that has bothered him for the past month.

Edwards has also been listed as questionable for each of the three games played in the first round. Edwards left Thursday’s game for the final time at 7:47. While Minnesota held a 92-75 lead, starters from both teams were still active. Edwards headed straight to the locker room and didn’t check back into the game. He even had a slight limp, limiting his explosiveness on the court.

Edwards played only 24 minutes, scoring 17 points, grabbing five rebounds and dishing three assists. He shot 6 of 15, with eight attempts coming from beyond the arc. Edwards also had five fouls when he left the floor.

The Timberwolves will hope the limited minutes allow Edwards to rest up, as the Nuggets will look to avenge the brutal blowout loss on Thursday when the teams meet again in Game 4 on Saturday. However, since Edwards has potentially reaggravated an existing injury, there will be question marks on his status for that contest.

The All-Star Game MVP has had an injury-riddled season in which he’s played a career-low 61 games. The knee injury has caused Anthony Edwards to miss a large chunk of those games.

Timberwolves completely outplay Nuggets in Game 3 amid Anthony Edwards’ knee injury woes

The Timberwolves dominated the Nuggets in Game 3 despite Anthony Edwards’ injury woes. They took a 25-11 lead in the first quarter and kept the pressure up against Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray to win 113-96 and take a 2-1 series lead with another game at home coming up.

Ayo Dosunmu was one of the most decisive players for the Timberwolves after scoring 25 points off the bench on 10 of 15 shots. He added nine assists to his box score. Meanwhile, Rudy Gobert and Jaden McDaniels were at par to receive recognition as the joint second-best players on the night.

Gobert played fantastic defense on Jokic, while McDaniels hounded Murray the entire game. Gobert finished with 10 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks, limiting Jokic to 26.9% shooting. Meanwhile, McDaniels scored 20 points and grabbed 10 boards on 9 of 13 shots, while holding Murray to 29.4% shooting.

Minnesota had 31 assists on 44 field goals, while limiting the Nuggets to 34.1% shooting and overcoming a 40-21 free-throw disparity.
