Through the years, Klay Thompson has shown that he’s unafraid to voice out his social and political opinions. On Tuesday, the Dallas Mavericks guard used his social media platform to vent out his frustration on a recent court ruling.
This week, a South Carolina jury found convenience store owner Chikei Rick Chow, 61, not guilty of murder in the shooting of 14-year-old Cyrus Carmack-Belton back in 2023. In response to this ruling, Thompson went on Instagram to post an image of Carmack-Belton, which he accompanied with an indignant caption.
“The American Judicial system is a joke smh. Rest in Power Cyrus. Black Lives Matter.”
During Chow’s trial, different accounts of the shooting emerged. The defense claimed that Chow acted to defend his son after Carmack-Belton pointed a gun. Meanwhile, prosecutors stated that Chow mistakenly thought that the teenager had stolen bottles of water from his store.
Though Thompson typically has a laid back demeanor on social media, he has been known to speak up on certain issues. During the first White House term of U.S. President Donald Trump, the four-time NBA champion slammed the Chief Executive on multiple occasions.
After Hurricane Dorian devastated the Bahamas in September 2019, Thompson slammed Trump for “not welcoming our Bahamian neighbors in their time of need.” Now, it’s a South Carolina jury ruling that has drawn the ire of Thompson.
Megan Thee Stallion Seemingly Takes Shots at Klay Thompson in Latest Diss Track
Meanwhile, Klay Thompson himself is reportedly on the receiving end of ex-girlfriend Megan Thee Stallion’s vitriol.
In a feature on the BossMan Dlow song “Motion Party (Remix)”, Megan appeared to be doubling down on her allegations of Thompson’s infidelity.
“I ain’t goin through no phones…Thought he did his big one till he met the biggest,” Megan rapped.
Then, on Tuesday, the hip hop star released a preview of a diss track, in which she claimed that the hopes of rekindling a romantic relationship with Thompson were “dead.”
