The last time NBA fans saw Alperen Sengun, he and the Houston Rockets were coming to terms with their first-round elimination at the hands of the LA Lakers. Now, Sengun is in the limelight again, but this time because of his personal life.
Fans on social media claimed that Sengun and his longtime girlfriend Hannah Cherry had unfollowed each other on Instagram. This sparked rumors of a breakup over four years after Sengun and Cherry made their relationship IG-official.
In April 2022, Hannah Cherry posted a series of pictures declaring her commitment to Alperen Sengun. Sliding in the comments section of this post, Sengun wrote, “My babyy.”
This IG post, however, appears to have been deleted by Cherry as it is now inaccessible. On top of this, Cherry has also set her IG account to private.
Whether or not the breakup rumors are true, Sengun will soon have to refocus on his basketball career. After getting over the emotional impact of the Rockets’ first-round loss, Sengun needs to decide whether he’ll play for the Turkish national team at the FIBA Basketball World Cup Qualifiers this summer. Turkey is set to take on Bosnia and Herzegovina on July 3.
Following that, Sengun will have to regroup with his Rockets squad in the offseason in order to figure out how they can bounce back in the 2026-27 campaign.

After the Rockets were eliminated in the first round, a video circulated, purportedly showing Alperen Sengun walking off the court without shaking hands with any Lakers.
However, another clip allegedly showed Sengun dapping up Luka Doncic, who was in street clothes.
The Game 6 loss to the Lakers was a tough pill to swallow for Sengun and the Rockets.
