Bronny James, who has had a front-row ticket to LeBron James’ legendary career, continues to heap praise on his father. After practice on Thursday, the younger James highlighted the four-time MVP’s accomplishments and emphasized the team’s importance in following the veteran’s leadership.
Fans reacted to Bronny’s comments as the shorthanded Lakers continued their preparation against the Kevin Durant-led team. One fan wrote:
“Yo, Bronny really out here sounding like a hype man for his pops like LeBron still undisputed king at 41.”
Another fan added:
“Love seeing the respect from the son to dad like this.”
One more fan continued:
“You’re 21 years old. You have not been listening.”
Another fan commented:
“Ni**a usin Bronny to push his agenda now.”
One fan tweeted:
“How many players in the NBA playoffs averaging 3 points are getting this kind of media attention?”
Before the Bronny James interview, LeBron James told reporters that playing with his son “is the best thing that’s ever happened to me in my career.” The 41-year-old superstar ranked playing with the backup guard “above everything that I’ve accomplished.”
Bronny reciprocated the unsurprising significance of what his father said by saying that the four-time champ “knows the most.” The 21-year-old guard urged his teammates “to have our minds and ears open” to his father’s guidance.
The fourth-seeded LA Lakers will host the fifth-seeded Houston Rockets without Luka Doncic (hamstring) and Austin Reaves (oblique). Doncic could possibly return if the Lakers can force the Rockets to a long series, according to NBA insider Ramona Shelburne, early this month. Shelburne added that Reaves isn’t expected to be available for the clash.
With the uncertainty of both guards, Bronny James could see more crucial minutes than last season. Against the Minnesota Timberwolves last year, he played a total of four minutes, which came in two blowout losses. James hopes for more opportunities to contribute this time.
Bronny James “Appreciative” To Play With LeBron James, Calls Opportunity “Part of the Job”
Bronny James could participate in what might be LeBron James’ final playoff run. When asked about another opportunity to play with his father in the postseason, Bronny responded:
“It’s insane. … I’ve watched his whole career. Now, I’m a part of it. … I’m appreciative of it. But I’m also part of the job, too. So, I have to do my job as well. I got to lock in.”
Bronny is excited to play meaningful minutes and hopes to have a positive impact in the series. It remains to be seen how he will perform to help his father carry the hobbled Lakers.
