Trackhouse Racing star Connor Zilisch had another heartbreak at Chicagoland on Sunday during the Cup Series race as he retired on the first racing lap after the disappointing result on Saturday in the O’Reilly race. Fans reacted to the Zilisch race-ending crash during the Eero 400.
Zilisch started the Cup series race at Chicagoland Speedway in P21 with Ryan Preece just ahead of him in P20. At the start of the race, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. pinched John Hunter Nemechek just ahead of Preece. Erik Jones spun the No. 60 Ford of Preece, and Connor Zilisch, in an attempt to avoid crashing into him, spun and hit the barrier, causing race-ending damage.
Fans reacted to the crash as a replay of the crash was shared on X.
“Never seen a season this cursed,” a user commented.
Another mentioned, “Tough break for him. Caught in a bad spot.”
“He does not deserve to have this bad of luck, like good god give him a break. Take his luck, quadruple it, and give it to Logano,” another user wrote.
While some felt bad for Connor Zilisch’s unfortunate full-time Cup series rookie season, others suggested that he’ll be dangerous once the luck turns his way.
“Damn! Poor @ConnorZilisch. I seriously do feel bad for this kid, and pray that he’ll win at least once, this season! 🙏🏻,” a user commented.
Another wrote, “It’s just sad at this point dude.”
“Once he gets his luck turned around. He will be dangerous,” a user mentioned.
