Do NASCAR drivers wear diapers while racing? The answer is no, they don’t. Most of them don’t even feel the urge to urinate due to heavy loss of fluids resulting from extremely high temperatures inside the cars. However, they can use in-car catheters to relieve themselves if necessary.
In an interview back in 2017, NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt Jr. stated that it wasn’t uncommon for drivers to pee during a race. In fact, he admitted to having done the same at least twice a year.
“It’s rare that it happens, but sometimes it does, and if you think you can hold it, hold it,” Dale Jr. explained. “But, it’s also a distraction, and racing a car, you need so much focus, if it’s a distraction, you go ahead and get rid of that distraction.”
For some, like NASCAR Cup Series champion Joey Logano, holding it in is easier. The Mustang maestro joked that he is like a camel when it comes to retaining water.
“I just store water. I’m like a camel — I never have to go to the bathroom,” he laughed. “So I don’t know, but for some, it’s not a good situation to be in.”
The bottom line is that most drivers do not pee in their cars. They are already drenched in sweat inside their firesuits, so even if they do, it’s not like anyone would notice. But to be safe, most of them hold it in or make sure to hit the bathroom before suiting up.
NASCAR sets Guinness World Record for the “World’s Loudest Billboard”
NASCAR has put up a billboard right in the middle of Times Square (Manhattan, New York), featuring a 1:1 replica of the NASCAR Next Gen engine, which emits the real-life revving of the NASCAR Cup Series machine. And with that, the sport has set a Guinness Book World Record for the “World’s Loudest Billboard”.
Produced by 72andSunny, in partnership with Guru House, the advertisement also features the official slogan for the 2026 NASCAR season: “Hell Yeah.” Reflecting on the uniqueness of the billboard, NASCAR Chief Brand Officer Tim Clark said in a statement,
“Setting a Guinness World Record title is a proud moment for our sport and serves as a bold statement to get the 2026 season started. The billboard puts the visceral energy of NASCAR front and center and invites everyone to experience what makes our sport so unique.”
Next up on NASCAR’s roster is the 68th running of the crown jewel Daytona 500. It’s also the official season-opening race for the 2026 season. Scheduled for this Sunday, February 15, the 500-mile event will be televised on FOX, starting at 2:30 pm ET. Fans can watch live radio updates on MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
