Mike MacIntyre’s Salary and Contract in 2024

MacIntyre became head coach at FIU before the 2022 season, signing a contract extension following his first year with the program. It added an extra year to his deal that will now run through to 2027. The FIU HC reportedly makes a base salary of $750,000 per season.

The previous contract was due to expire in December 2026. CBS Sports reporter Eric Henry documented that “all additional terms of the contract remain the same,” and the new deal was simply a one-year extension.

FIU went 4-8 in MacIntyre’s first year in charge and repeated that record in 2023. The last time the Panthers had a winning season was 2018 under Butch Davis — its first since 2011 under Mario Cristobal.

However, they finished the 2020 COVID season winless and only managed one win in 2021, adding valuable context to MacIntyre’s performances over the past two campaigns.

Upon signing the extension, MacIntyre said, “ I am honored to have the opportunity to continue to lead such a remarkable group of student-athletes and staff here at FIU.”

Athletics director Scott Carr added, “His vision, character, work ethic, and humility are second to none. “It’s truly amazing what he has done to assemble a first-class staff and build a very healthy team culture. While we strive to win every game, we’re pleased with the increase in wins from previous years and how hard our young men competed the entire season.”

FIU marked MacIntyre’s return as a head coach after previously leading San Jose State (2010-2012) and Colorado (2013-2018).

MacIntyre’s 2024 salary of $750,000 is down on the $2.8 million he earned in 2018 as the Buffaloes head coach but up on the $500,000 average he commanded during his stint with the Spartans.
