Treysen Eaglestaff put out a heartfelt message after committing to West Virginia University. The 19-year-old had previously committed to South Carolina but later withdrew.
The 6’6″ shooting guard revealed that it was difficult to back out of the commitment. He explained that he discussed it with his family and decided that it was the best course of action for his future. Eaglestaff also denied speculations that he decommitted from South Carolina for financial reasons.

Treysen Eaglestaff ‘Blessed’ To Play for Ross Hodge
Eaglestaff entered the transfer portal when it first opened, and several programs quickly expressed their interest in the shooting guard. Kentucky, Michigan, Kansas, South Carolina, UCLA, and other programs were interested in bringing the 19-year-old on board before he decided to commit to South Carolina.
But in a shocking turn of events, Eaglestaff backed out of the commitment and decided to reopen his recruitment.
The 19-year-old will now play for coach Ross Hodge’s Mountaineers after committing to West Virginia University.

The shooting guard was one of the country’s leading scorers this season. He averaged 18.9 points per game, 2.8 rebounds per game, and 2.4 assists per game.
Eaglestaff, who has one year of eligibility remaining, also scored 40 points against Alabama last December and had an impressive 51-point game against South Dakota State.
Eaglestaff Ready for New Chapter
Eaglestaff is ready for a new chapter in his career after spending all three of his college seasons in North Dakota. He scored 1,360 total points and made 221 three-point field goals with a career average of 37.1% from 3-point range.
Eaglestaff will now be hoping to make his mark with a West Virginia team that has already received transfer portal commitments from guards Jasper Floyd, Honor Huffs, Chance Moore, center Harlan Obioha, and forwards Brenen Lorient and Jackson Fields.

The Mountaineers have also secured forward DJ Thomas from the High School ranks, and still plans to have forwards Abraham Oyeadier and Haris Elezovic on the roster as coach Ross Hodge continues to build a competitive team.
