Our Syracuse vs. Stanford prediction looks at two teams trending in opposite directions. The Syracuse Orange has had a disappointing four years, sitting at 12th in the ACC. The Orange is not even a bubble team right now, and if Syracuse misses the tournament this year, the graduating class of 2025 will be the first class since 1972 to not see the Orange in an NCAA tournament (Related: I’m in the graduating class of 2025).
Stanford, on the other hand, has played pretty well in its first season as a member of the ACC. The Cardinal is in 6th place in the ACC sitting with a 14-6 record overall. A win tonight would help the Cardinal stay on track as a bubble team and keep their tournament hopes alive.

Syracuse is 9-11 overall with a 3-6 record in ACC play. However, the Orange cover a decent amount in their games and have 10-9-1 record against the spread this season. When Syracuse is a road underdog, its record is 3-2 against the spread. Furthermore, Syracuse is 6-3 against the spread when playing conference opponents.
Stanford sits at 14-6 with a 6-3 conference record. Like Syracuse, Stanford has a positive record against the spread at 12-8. The Cardinal is 9-3 against the spread when the team is a home favorite. Stanford is also 6-3 ATS when playing conference opponents.

The line in this game opened at Stanford -10.5 and has moved to Stanford -11.5, which means there has been a decent amount of bets placed on the Cardinal.
Prediction for Syracuse vs Stanford
Syracuse has all the talent in the world, but has looked out-classed all season long. The Orange struggle at home and on the road, so to me Syracuse is never a safe bet.
Stanford has played well all season long, especially at home, only losing one game in Palo Alto. They are fundamentally sound and play as a cohesive unit, making it hard for their opponents to go on runs.
The key in this game is going to be Stanford’s big, Maxime Raynaud, the 7’1 senior from France. He averages 20 points and 11 rebounds a game, putting him among the game’s elite big men. Syracuse does not have a talented or tall enough big to guard Raynaud, and he should be very good tonight.
His over/under is set at 23 points, while he’s +100 to pull down 13 or more rebounds, if that tells you anything about how Vegas feels about his potential stat line Wednesday.

The best play here is Stanford to win and cover, though I also like the under. Sharps agree as the total is dropping while the line is climbing.

Prediction: Stanford 78, Syracuse 65
