No. 5 seed St. John’s will lock horns with No. 12 Northern Iowa in the first round of the 2026 NCAA Tournament on Friday. The game will tip off at 7:10 p.m. ET from Viejas Arena in San Diego, California.

St. John’s Injury Report

- Zuby Ejiofor – ACTIVE
St. John’s (28-6) will be without guard Imran Suljanovic for March Madness. The Austrian is reportedly nursing a dislocated patella and will miss the rest of the season.
Red Storm forward Zuby Ejiofor is active for the team’s opening game of the NCAA Tournament. Ejiofor, who cut his lip in a matchup against UConn in February, has not missed a game for St. John’s this season, in which he is averaging 16.3 points, 7.1 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game.
The Red Storm won the Big East regular season and conference tournament this season. Rick Pitino’s team is expected to make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament this season, with some suggesting St. John’s could go all the way and win the national championship.
Northern Iowa Injury Report
- Will Hornseth – ACTIVE
- Trey Campbell – ACTIVE
Northern Iowa (23-12) does not have any injuries to report ahead of its NCAA Tournament opener. The Panthers will be relying on Will Hornseth and Trey Campbell to handle the bulk of the scoring against St. John’s.
Hornseth is averaging 11.2 ppg, 4.2 rpg and 2.2 apg this season, while Campbell is averaging 13.7 ppg and 3.9 apg.
The Panthers made it to the Big Dance by winning the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament. However, Ben Jacobson’s team will have to pull off a major upset against St. John’s to advance to the Round of 32.
