As Mark Pope continues building his squad for the new season, he seems to have seen some players achieve their true heights during the off-season, with one man specifically standing out. In a recent interview with Kentucky Sports Radio, Mark Pope revealed that man is none other than Trent Noah, who appears to be setting the standard in Lexington, and earning a “best player” tag from his head coach.
Not all fans seem convinced by Mark Pope’s statement, however. In fact, many refuted the move, noting that this was mentioned last year too but with no follow up success.
Milan Momcilovic Was Also Impressed by Trent Noah’s Ability
It appears that Trent Noah’s ability has been noticed not just by his coach, but also by his peers, as Milan Momcilovic echoed a similar feeling recently about the player who surprised him the most at Kentucky.
“I think Trent (Noah), because I didn’t watch a whole lot of Kentucky last year, watched a little bit, so I saw him play a little bit here and there, but you know, coming into summer, I think he’s been the best player,” Momcilovic told reporters.
“Coach showed a slide of like points per possession, and he’s No. 1 by a long shot, so I think he kind of just honestly like looking at him and learning from him a little bit, because he’s been here three years, you know, he’s a veteran in this program, he knows what to do. I think just watching that and seeing that, because he’s a shooter too, is cool.”
Only time will tell if Trent Noah lives up to the hype, but all the signs look positive as things stand.
