Notre Dame is still nearly a year from the team’s next chance to win the national championship, but the moves made in this period of the calendar will be the difference between playing in the game and watching it. As such, the Fighting Irish have not taken the team’s foot off the gas, signing a DII player who appears to be on the incline.
According to agents Trey Dees and Corey Marcum via On3 and insider Joe Tipton in a Wednesday post on X, the team has received a commitment from forward Yoro Diallo. The transferring Junior is NBA-sized with a notable recent track record.
“NEWS: DII standout forward Yoro Diallo has committed to Notre Dame, his agents Trey Dees and Corey Marcum of EZSportsGroup told On3,” the report read. “The 6-9 junior averaged 14.7 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game this season for UVA Wise.”
According to UVA Wise media, Diallo posted 25 points against Newberry on Dec. 6 and played 39 minutes against Carson-Newman on Dec. 17, proving that he was heating up during the final stretch of the season. Now, he will be taking his talents to Notre Dame.
Notre Dame’s Roster Swells after Yoro Diallo Addition
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish already had many players on the roster before Yoro Diallo committed to join the squad. According to On3 in an Apr. 27 count, Diallo’s addition makes six forwards/wings on the roster. Only one player, Ethan Roberts, is set to age out of the program after the 2026 season.
As such, Diallo may have a fight to see significant playing time early. Three of the five incumbent players have at least three years of eligibility, which means waiting is not likely to be the answer for Diallo.
