Mark Pope Reportedly Keen to Revive BYU Tactics With New Role for Milan Momcilovic at Kentucky

Milan Momcilovic is all set to make his decision on which college to play for after officially announcing his withdrawal from the NBA Draft in time for the deadline.

The big question that now remains is around where he ends up and if you’re Mark Pope, you’re hoping against hope that the big man decides to choose Kentucky as his final destination.

If he does so, it’ll be a game changer for Pope, who’s been looking for redemption after failing to recruit Tyran Stokes ahead of Kansas and needs a major win to keep the Wildcats competitive and possibly save his job this coming season.

And per KSR and On3 sources, it appears that Pope knows exactly how to use Momcilovic should he decide to join the team from Lexington.

The report claims that following the failure to recruit Tyran Stokes, Pope is keen to pivot and feels Momcilovic is the perfect player to fit the role initially adopted by Koby Brea, who was key to Pope’s early success at Kentucky.

Furthermore, Pope’s famed “video game offense” at BYU might see a return at Kentucky with Momcilovic leading the charge as he reportedly fits the bill for Mark Pope and it might be a system fit that the former Iowa State star himself really enjoys too.

Who Stands in Pope’s Plans for Milan Momcilovic?

Latest reports suggest that St. John’s have pulled out of the race to acquire Momcilovic, which leaves Kentucky battling with Arizona and Louisville for the Iowa State transfer’s signature.

Realistically, it appears as though Kentucky’s state rivals are the main threat here as Pat Kelsey and co have been splashing the cash in an attempt to become competitive, and might see this as the final piece of the puzzle to securing a major title.
