Former LSU Tigers WR Kayshon Boutte was arrested over his involvement in underaged sports betting with a reported 8,900 bets, most during the 2022 season.

Former LSU Tigers WR Kayshon Boutte has found himself in hot water after his rookie season in the NFL with the New England Patriots. Boutte was arrested for his involvement in sports betting while underage and using a fake account.

Boutte played last for LSU in 2022, when most of the bets he played were said to have been placed.

Former LSU WR Kayshon Boutte Arrested

Boutte reportedly placed more than 8,900 bets, doing so all when he was 20 years old or younger. According to Wilson Alexander of NOLA.com, Boutte bet on at least 17 college football games and at least six LSU contests.

Though no longer affiliated with the LSU program, the LSU athletics department released a statement regarding these allegations against their former star receiver.

“In July 2023, LSU was made aware of allegations regarding a former student-athlete’s improper conduct related to sports gambling while enrolled at the University,” the statement said. “Since then, we have fully cooperated with all relevant authorities involved in the investigation and will continue to do so.”

“We have no evidence that any other student-athletes participated in these prohibited activities, and we are grateful for measures that detect and discourage sports gambling related misconduct.”

After the initial report, Boutte’s gambling activities were made a bit more public, including his use of fake accounts such as ‘kayshonboutte7’ and other similar aliases.

Of the bets that were made aware, it was reported by On3’s Pete Nakos that Boutte placed an eight-leg parlay that combined his usage in the season-opening game in 2022 against Florida State. Nakos reported that Boutte bet on himself as an anytime touchdown scorer and to go over 82.5 receiving yards against FSU, neither of which he obtained in the game.

Now a member of the New England Patriots, Boutte will be subject to discipline from the NFL. The NFL released a simple statement in response to the situation.

“We are aware of the matter but have no further comment at this time,” the NFL said via Ian Rapoport.
