Tiger Woods’ return has been surrounded by numerous rumors. The legendary golfer has not played in more than a year, with his most recent appearance coming at the 2024 US Open. While the timing of Woods’ return has yet to be determined, there have been suggestions that the golfer could join the PGA Seniors Tour. The golfer recently addressed the claims during a press conference at the 2026 Genesis Invitational.
The 15-time golf major winner is hosting the 2026 Genesis Invitational, and for the second time in a row, he is not competing in the event. On February 17, Woods appeared at a pre-tournament conference, where he addressed numerous rumors, including the PGA Seniors Tour one. The golfer initially described his current health, noting that the disc replacement surgery he received in October 2025 remains a significant issue for him.
On top of that, Woods mentioned that he turned 50 in December and began a new decade of his life, which has caused him to feel as if his age has begun to sink in. The 82-time PGA Tour champion went on to say that he wants to play golf while riding in a cart, but he won’t do so on the PGA Tour since the Champions Tour is more likely to allow it. According to an X post from the PGA Tour, Woods stated,
“Well, I’m trying, put it that way. The disc replacement has been one thing; it’s been a challenge. And I entered a new decade, so that number is starting to sink in. And I was thinking about the opportunity to be able to play, you know, in a cart. So that’s something that, as I said, I won’t do out here on this tour, because I don’t believe in it. But, you know, on the Champions Tour, that’s certainly an opportunity.”
Tiger Woods also stated that he has no set date for his return or the tour on which he will participate. While his PGA Tour Champions debut has yet to be finalized, other senior golfers have started to hype it.
Stewart Cink believes Tiger Woods can challenge himself on the PGA Tour Champions

In an interview with Golf, Stewart Cink, an eight-time PGA Tour winner, discussed Tiger Woods rumored joining the Senior Tour. Interestingly, Cink stated that if Woods joins the Champions Tour, he will not be aiming to create a new legacy because he has already established a significant legacy on the PGA Tour, which he will seek to maintain. Cink explained that rather than creating a new legacy, Woods may be trying to challenge himself in competition.
According to Golf, Stewart Cink explained,
“[Woods] already made his legacy. He’s not going to come out here and like, recreate a new legacy. But I think he would be able to strip it down to its purest form, and that’s just competition and testing himself out. It would be a good way for him to test out his body and see how things are going, getting ready for some of his other tournaments, majors, and whatnot. It would be huge.”
While Tiger Woods’ future on the PGA Tour or the PGA Champions Tour remains uncertain, the golfer has confirmed that he will not rule out competing in the 2026 Masters.
