It looks like LIV fans may have to wait a little longer before seeing Phil Mickelson play for the first tournament this season. Before the season’s first tournament, LIV Golf Riyadh, the golfer issued a statement claiming that owing to a private family health concern, he would miss the circuit’s first two tournaments, LIV Golf Riyadh and LIV Golf Adelaide.
In his announcement, Phil Mickelson did not give a certain date for his return and claimed that he will return as soon as he can. While fans wait for the legendary golfer to return, it was recently disclosed that Mickelson is once again not scheduled to compete in the upcoming LIV Golf Singapore. Wade Ormsby will once again play the event in place of Mickelson.
NUCLR Golf reported about the situation in an X post, which read,
“🚨❌🇸🇬 #UPDATE — Wade Ormsby is listed as a fill-in for Phil Mickelson for the 4th straight event this week in Singapore. Phil continues to miss extended time due to a private family health matter.”
Phil Mickelson’s initial statement regarding his absence read,
“I will not be able to participate in the first two LIV events as Amy (Mickelson’s wife) and I need to be present for a family health matter. I can’t wait to compete again and look forward to rejoining my teammates as soon as possible.”
The LIV Golf Singapore will be starting from March 12 at Serapong Golf Course and will feature a massive $20 million prize fund. Talking back about Mickelson, although the golfer is away from the game, he recently shared an X post about his excitement for one of his contracts.
Phil Mickelson hypes up his golf apparel brand

Phil Mickelson struck a big apparel sponsorship deal with Primo in January 2025, with the brand sponsoring all of the clothing for the HyFlyers GC. The deal between the two parties states that all HyFlyers GC members will wear their brand’s joggers, polos, vests, quarter-zips, and other items on the golf course.
Mickelson recently shared another teaser regarding the contract on his X account, expressing his delight for another year with the company. In the video, the golfer was testing the equipment and pumped it up by saying,
“If I’m going to wear something on the course, I need to know that it’s going to keep up with my game. So when I saw how Primo tested their apparel, I was impressed. But I just had to try one more of my own. Alright, ready? Yep. Not bad.”
The caption of this X post read,
“Another year with Primo and I couldn’t be more excited!”
LIV’s next tournament will be in South Africa, marking its first event on the African continent. Speculations are that Phil Mickelson might make a comeback there and lead his squad again. The competition will begin with Match 19 at the Club in Steyn City.
