The 2026 Players Championship is currently underway at the TPC Sawgrass, and so far, the leaderboard is looking pretty tight. The golf course is one of the most demanding in the world, and after the first round, the golfers fared fairly evenly. A total of 120 golfers have started the event, and after 36 holes, only 65 and ties are expected to advance to the weekend game.

As of this writing, Corey Conners, who has completed Hole 9 in his second round, leads the tournament with a total score of 9 under par. Following him, Sepp Straka is in second place with a total score of 8 under par after finishing Hole 12 in his second round. While they are currently in a bare lead, many golfers have yet to begin their rounds; the leaderboard may change after that.

Looking at the current leaderboard, the 2026 Players Championship 36-hole cut line is expected to be 1 under par. If the cut is made on this score, 68 golfers will advance to the weekend game of the tournament. Surprisingly, numerous well-known players, including Michael Kim, Marco Penge, Rasmus Hojgaard, and others, may miss the cut in this tournament.

The TPC Sawgrass is well known for its twists and turns, and from here, things can shift rapidly for golfers. The 17th hole on the course, known as the island hole, has always been a nightmare for golfers because it is surrounded by water bodies. The Hole has altered the outcomes and leaderboard of the Players Championship many times during the previous seasons, and this year’s anticipation is that things will go either way.
