Collin Morikawa sank a birdie on the 18th green at Pebble Beach Golf Links to win the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am 2026 on Sunday. The 29-year-old beat the likes of Min Woo Lee and Sepp Straka to register his first win in 28 months. Following the victory, the two-time major champion announced he and his wife, Katherine Zhu, are expecting their first child later this spring.

Morikawa made the baby announcement in style amid his Pebble Beach Pro-Am celebration. The golfer asked the reporter to “put golf aside” while revealing the new addition to his young family. The Las Vegas resident said the baby is expected to be born in May.

It is noteworthy that the ace golfer’s win was celebrated by his teary-eyed wife Kat from the stands at the iconic Pebble Beach course. The couple had a lengthy embrace on the 18th green following his winning putt.

Speaking to media after his win at AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, Collin Morikawa said, as quoted by PGA Tour:

“Put golf aside, we’re actually expecting later this year, in a few months. We just started telling people this week, and we said what a better way and the best way to announce it to the world, if I was able to come out and win…

There’s so much to life, there’s so much to enjoy. I’m hard on myself like I talked about yesterday but I’m just so thankful for the people around me, my team, Kat my wife, my parents, my brother. I’m speechless right now.”

Morikawa married his long-time girlfriend Katherine Zhu in an intimate wedding event at the Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles in 2022. The couple, first met in 2017 while in college, tied the knot after being engaged for a year.

Morikawa was among six players who had a share of the lead at one point on the final day at Pebble Beach Pro-Am. The golfer held on in a wild and windy final round by keeping off players like Scottie Scheffler, who almost succeeded in making the biggest comeback in the event history. The World No.1 settled for a T4 with Tommy Fleetwood at the end.

The 29-year-old, playing in the cold Pacific air ripping off the ocean to his left at the fairway on the par-5 18th, was seen walked down to the waters and back about 10 times before taking his shot.

Speaking about his mental state during the game, Morikawa said:

“I tried to think about anything else other than golf. Thankfully, you had the nicest backdrop you could ask for so that was very, very easy. For me, it was how do I stay loose, how do I stay warm and not just think about the shot.”

He managed to deliver back-to-back birdies to take the lead, which was followed up with one last birdie with a 4-iron from 235 yards. The winning golfer made two putts to settle for 5-under 67 on Sunday. He finished at 22-under 266 and a one-shot victory over Straka and Lee. The win came after he went 45 starts since he last won the Baycurrent Classic in Japan in October 2023.
