Charlie Woods is currently competing in the 2026 Junior Invitational, and his opening round has been nothing short of disastrous. This tournament is considered one of the biggest for amateur golfers and is also known as the Junior Masters. The reason behind this name is that it takes place at the Sage Valley Golf Club, which is only 20 minutes away from the Augusta National, the golf course where Tiger Woods has won the green jacket five times in his career.

Interestingly, as the Junior Invitational is named the Junior Masters, the winner of the tournament is given a golden jacket. The Sage Valley golf course is even a bit favorable to the golfers, and while the young players usually do well on it, Charlie Woods has had a difficult time reading the greens. Woods was unable to connect with the golf course and finished with a total score of 3 over par, tying for 22nd place in a field of 36 players.

Charlie’s round was a complete roller coaster as he played brilliantly for some holes, but things went horribly wrong for him because he made two triple bogeys on holes 2 and 14. These two holes completely wrecked the 17-year-old’s campaign and put him 11 strokes behind the leader after the first round. Interestingly, although Woods is out of the tournament, his tee group mate is in first place on the leaderboard.

Charlie Woods competed in the opening round of the 2026 Junior Invitational alongside fellow University of Florida golfer Miles Russell, the event’s defending champion. While Woods had a tough time on the golf course, Russell had one of the cleanest rounds, with no bogeys and a total of eight birdies, giving him a three-shot lead heading into the second round.
