Byeong Hun An’s older post about the LIV Golf resurfaced on the internet after the South Korean golfer joined the Saudi league. Ahead of the start of the 2026 season, he has officially joined the league as the captain of the rebranded Korean Golf Club, formerly known as the Iron Heads GC team. He has replaced Kevin Na as the captain of the team.

Amidst this, Nuclr Golf has shared an old tweet of Byeong Hun An that he made about his conditions of joining the LIV Golf back in 2023. In the now-deleted post, the South Korean golfer wrote:

“I would not play LIV Golf if no money was offered. I like playing on the PGA Tour. Don’t see a reason for trying LIV without lots of money.”

Byeong Hun An will be playing alongside Minkyu Kim, Yong-ha Song, and Danny Lee in the LIV Golf team. The South Korean enjoyed a successful time playing on the PGA Tour over the years and is now gearing up for a new journey on the new circuit.

Byeong Hun An is ‘excited’ to play on LIV Golf

Byeong Hun An released a statement on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Wednesday about his joining the LIV Golf. He talked about his time on the PGA Tour and said that after the “conclusion of the 2025 season,” he “felt it was time for a new chapter and fresh challenge” in his life.

“Following the conclusion of the 2025 season, I felt it was time for a new chapter and a fresh challenge in my life. As such, I have decided to continue my professional career with LIV Golf, taking on the role of Captain for Korean Golf Club. I have always been passionate about supporting junior golfers and the next generation of players,” he wrote.

He also shared his excitement to play in the Saudi league in the statement. He added:

“While this is just the beginning, I want to help these athletes realize their dreams on the world stage. Leading the Korean Golf Club is the perfect opportunity to achieve that goal. I am incredibly excited about this new role and the journey ahead. I kindly ask for your continued support and interest as I take on this new challenge.”

The 2026 LIV Golf season will start next month with the season-opening event in Riyadh. Meanwhile, last year, on the PGA Tour, Byeong Hun An had played in 27 tournaments and made the cut in 19 of them.

He had one finish in the top five. He was impressive at the Baycurrent Championship, where he carded four rounds of 69, 69, 66, and 66 to settle in a tie for fourth place.
