Alex Fitzpatrick has written his name in the history books as he has finally secured his career’s first win at the 2026 Hero Indian Open with a huge margin. After four great days of the game, Fitzpatrick finished the tournament at DLF Golf and Country Club with a total score of 9 under par. He finished two shots ahead of the field, and interestingly, he had a larger lead than this, but in his tournament’s final hole, he shot a double bogey.

In an interview on the golf course after his win, the golfer went on to explain how much of an emotional win it is for him and how busy his life is right now. Fitzpatrick also stated that he has put in a lot of effort leading up to this victory, and it has driven him over the moon. According to an X post by the NUCLR Golf, he stated,

Yeah, I’ll try and explain without crying, probably. Yeah, it’s been a lot of hard work for a long time. And yeah, there’s a lot of people to thank for this. As much as this is the most amazing thing in the world right now, there’s more important things in golfing life. But yeah, over the moon, probably going to cry. But yeah, ecstatic.”

After his opening round of 2 under par, on the second day, Alex Fitzpatrick’s biggest roller coaster round occurred, when he shot 9 birdies and 5 bogeys. He finished that round with a total score of four under par, his best of the tournament. Later in round three, he shot an even par before finishing the day with a total score of 3 under par.

With Alex Fitzpatrick’s win, a new brother record has been set in the golf world

The Fitzpatrick brothers have shown some great domination recently in the golfing world. Matt Fitzpatrick had a terrific showing on the PGA Tour last week, winning the Valspar Championship with a total of 11 under par. Following that, Alex Fitzpatrick won this week, making them the only brothers to win consecutive PGA Tour and DP World Tour events.

Sky Sports reported about this on an X post, which read,

“The first brothers to win in back-to-back weeks on the PGA Tour and DP World Tour 🏆”

During the same interview, Alex Fitzpatrick said that he will soon meet his entire family, including his brother. He explained,

I have no idea. I’m off to see them in a couple of days. I see my mum and dad tomorrow. And then we’re going to meet our brother in Florida. So yeah, it’s been a good few weeks for the Fitzpatricks.”

Alex Fitzpatrick has earned a stunning $433,500 from the overall prize pool of the 2026 Hero Indian Open.
