PGA Tour Champions winner Tommy Gainey opened up about Tiger Woods’ possible entry into the senior tour. The American golfer turned 50 last month and is now eligible to play on the senior tour.

There have been debates about whether he would be joining the Champions Tour this year. Amidst this, this week on the PGA Tour SiriusXM, Gainey opened up about Woods. He talked about the possibility of the 15-time major winner on the Champions Tour.

“People (can) think what they want to think on that, but that tells me that if he’s able to play, he’s going to play in that one,” Gainey said.

Tiger Woods has previously opened up about playing on the Champions Tour in the pre-tournament press conference of the 2025 Hero World Challenge. He jokingly said that he would “probably” be playing in 25 events on “both tours” before adding that he is “looking forward” to being able to “play again.”

“I’m probably going to play probably 25 events on both tours and I think that should cover most of the year, right? No, I’m just looking forward to just let me get back to playing again, let me do that and then,” Woods said.

“I’ll kind of figure out what the schedule is going to be. I’m a ways away from that part of it and that type of decision, that type of commitment level. Unfortunately, I’ve been through this rehab process before, it’s just step by step. Once I get a feel for practicing, exploding, playing, the recovery process, then I can assess where I’m going to play and how much I’ll play,” he added.

Woods has limited his golf outings in the last few years. Last season, he did not play any golf events on the PGA Tour. However, he played for his team, Jupiter Links, in the TGL series.

Tiger Woods supports his team at the TGL game

Tiger Woods underwent surgery in October and has been away from the field for a while. This week, his team, Jupiter Links, played in their second game of the TGL season 2, and the American golfer was by the side to support them.

Max Homa, Akshay Bhatia, and Kevin Kisner played in the game against the Los Angeles Golf Club’s Collin Morikawa, Justin Rose, and Sahith Theegala. Tiger Woods did not play in the event but supported his team during warm-ups before the game on Tuesday. The Jupiter Golf Links, however, struggled with their game and suffered a 4-8 loss.

Tiger Woods’ TGL team played the first game of season 2 on January 13. They faced the New York Golf Club and had a tough time on the field, and lost the game.
