“Fireable Offense”: CFB World Reacts To Colorado QB Julian Lewis’ Apparent Dig At Deion Sanders’ Coaching

Deion Sanders has been with the Colorado Buffaloes since 2023. During his run as head coach, his best season record is 9-4 in 2024, when his team went to the Alamo Bowl and lost to the BYU Cougars.

Last season, the Buffaloes went 3-9, including 1-8 in the conference. Amid the mounting pressure on Coach Prime, Colorado quarterback Julian Lewis recently made a comment that has sparked conversations around Sanders’ ability to coach the team.

“I’m actually looking at the defenses now,” Lewis said. “Last year we wasn’t really looking at defenses much, just kind of high school free ball and just out there playing football. But it’s a lot bigger than that now, so it should be fine.”

Based on what Lewis said, fans have started questioning if Coach Prime is even serious about his job. Some are even taking it as a dig at Deion Sanders’ coaching.

“This is insane and a fireable offense,” a fan wrote.

“Did you really think Deion was a good coach the way he speaks?” another fan wrote.

“Players know I’m not lying, Colorado Coaches and Prime knows I’m not lying. Prime just mad I exposed it. When he should be mad at himself, his contract was top 5 highest paid coaches in College Football, $10M a year but treats it like a hobby. I’d be [expletive] to pay a coach $10M a year and he doesn’t even have his players watch film after games with the staff,” yet another fan wrote.

“Deion not teach these kids A THING,” one fan wrote.

“Lol this is why everyone usually takes 4th and 5th year players because they know how to answer without saying anything. Is young and I doubt they didn’t try to prepare him for upcoming defenses at all but even if they didn’t you can’t say this,” a fan wrote.

“Serious HS programs watch film and gameplan too! That’s inexcusable,” a fan wrote.

Some fans are still defending Deion Sanders as they believe Lewis’ comment is being misinterpreted. Regardless, not watching film and stepping in without a proper game plan is inexcusable.

Deion Sanders Believes The Buffaloes Are Already Back On Track

Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes are desperate to turn things around. A disastrous 2025 season has put them in a difficult spot. However, as per Coach Prime, they’ve already made immense progress.

“It’s already turned,” he said, as per ESPN. “You just ain’t seen the fruit. It’s already there.”

Coach Prime was also asked about his health and whether he feels confident in coaching for a long time.

“Let’s not talk about tomorrow. We got today at hand. Yeah. I’m going to focus on it now. When I’m [at] my best, I focus on it now and I dominate the now. Then I deal with the next day,” he said.

Deion Sanders took responsibility for the team’s failure, but going forward, he believes the Buffaloes will perform at the highest level.
