Jazz Chisholm Jr. once again became a topic of discussion during the Yankees vs. Tigers opener at Comerica Park on Monday night. In the bottom of the fifth inning, with the Tigers leading 4-1, Jazz was seen with what appeared to be a Blow Pop in his mouth while playing defense at second base.
The viral clip from the game has since gained traction on social media, prompting some fans to criticize the Bahamian player for his questionable behavior. In contrast, others blame the coaching staff and the team’s declining culture.
Jazz Chisholm Jr. Had a Problem With a Dirt Cam Earlier in the Game
Before enjoying the Blow Pop in the fifth inning, Jazz had stalled the game for nearly six minutes in the previous inning, as the 2B was busy with groundskeeping duty, trying to bury an infield dirt camera that had inadvertently popped out of its place.
While Jazz attempted to kick dirt and step on the camera, his teammates followed suit to get the game back underway as soon as possible. The moment caught the sportscasters’ attention, and they were quick to crack a few jokes about the situation.
Ultimately, the Bahamian finished 1-for-4, and the Yanks suffered their third straight loss in as many days, falling 5-3 to Detroit in the series opener. Game 2 is scheduled for Tuesday, and the series finale will be played on Wednesday.
