Yankees star DH Giancarlo Stanton has been on the injured list since April 24. The 2017 NL MVP has been without game action since injuring his right calf. Skipper Aaron Boone offered bleak updates on Stanton’s return timeline as the team traveled to Tampa Bay for a crucial four-game intra-divisional series against the Rays.
Senior MLB writer and reporter Bryan Hoch shared Boone’s comments on Stanton’s recovery timeline.
“Giancarlo Stanton (calf) remained in New York and has not resumed running since his recent setback, Aaron Boone said. “We’ve been listening to the body,” said Boone, who added that he does expect Stanton to return at some point this season,” Hoch wrote on X.
Boone’s comments drew flak from Yankees fans, who shared their explosive reactions on X.
With Aaron Judge Missing, the Yankees Need Giancarlo Stanton Now More Than Ever
Having Stanton, who always threatens a home run, would greatly boost the Bronx Bombers’ batting order. Even when Judge was healthy, Stanton’s impact was missed; now, with Judge out and others cooling off, they need a hitter like Stanton more than ever.
Due to offensive struggles, erratic pitching, and sloppy defense, the Yankees have lost eight of their last ten games and trail the Rays by three games in the AL East.
The Yankees snapped their nine-game losing skid by taking the series opener against the Rays on Monday at Tropicana Field.
