“Francisco Lindor Is Checked Out” – Mets Fans React After Shocking Error From SS Leads To Red Sox Comeback & Series Loss

Things haven’t been going well for Mets SS Francisco Lindor this season, both offensively and defensively. Since returning from the IL, Lindor has appeared fragile in the infield and has made untimely errors, frustrating fans.

In the series finale against the Red Sox, Lindor mishandled a potential game-ending double play in the ninth inning, costing the Mets the game and contributing to yet another series sweep this year.

Fans were disappointed by the five-time All-Star’s lackluster defense, with many suggesting that the Puerto Rican’s time in Queens might be ending. Others blamed internal organizational issues, which they believed contributed to a collapse in team cohesion and poor coaching decisions.

What began as a promising day for Lindor, who drove in both runs for his team to establish a firm 2-0 lead until the last inning, took a turn for the worse after his error permitted the Red Sox to score twice in the ninth and tie the game at 2-2.

The Red Sox then scored the winning run in the tenth, sweeping the Mets, who finished the first half with their worst record, 40-57.

What Did Francisco Lindor Have to Say About His Crucial Miscue in the Ninth?

After the heartbreaking loss, Lindor spoke to the media about game-day questions. One question prompted him to reflect on his crucial error in the ninth inning that let the Red Sox back into the game. Responding, Lindor said it was unacceptable and did not meet the organization’s standards. Furthermore, he argued that the team had to be better collectively.

“I didn’t finish the play. It’s unacceptable. It’s not up to the standard I have or the organization’s standard. I’ve got to be better… It comes down to we’ve got to be better. It wasn’t good. It’s not to the standard we have here. It’s definitely not what we expected,” Lindor said.

The Mets will open the second half of the campaign away from home, taking on the Philadelphia Phillies, followed by a series against the Brewers before heading back home to host the Dodgers at Citi Field.
