Houston Astros’ Isaac Paredes and Christian Walker are part of an infielder logjam at Daikin Park. While the Astros have too many infielders in their current roster, they can only fill 4 spots. This is one reason why names like Paredes and Walker are constantly linked with trade rumors, which will take them away from Houston.
On social media, many fans and experts have provided their takes on the future of Paredes and Walker. Joining them, a popular MLB insider recently weighed in on the future of the mentioned players. During an episode of The Baseball Insiders: A FanSided MLB Podcast, Robert Murray said (20:20):
“As far as their (Houston Astros) infield goes, they’re still going to be taking calls here on Paredes. They’re going to be taking calls on Christian Walker. I would think of the two that Paredes would probably be the most likely to be moved, considering just his overall talent level, the affordable contract, and Walker really wasn’t drawing much interest at all this offseason. So, that could be a tougher guy to move if you’re Houston.”
Further, Murray wondered which team could be the perfect fit for Isaac Paredes. First, Murray questioned whether the Pittsburgh Pirates could be a proper fit for Paredes, after which he said the Milwaukee Brewers could make sense, too. The Boston Red Sox is another team the MLB Insider mentioned while speaking about Paredes.
Astros’ Christian Walker earlier acknowledged the trade talks surrounding him
While last season did not yield the results Christian Walker and the Houston Astros were hoping for, this offseason turned memorable for the Walker household as the MLB star was blessed with a daughter. In a recent interaction with the media after arriving for spring training, Walker first spoke about fatherhood and his baby.
Later, in the same media interaction, Walker acknowledged the trade rumors that surround him. The 34-year-old baseball star called it a very “realistic part of business,” but also dropped a hint about where he thinks his home is. Walker said:
“It’s a very realistic part of the business. But as far as I’m concerned, this is home, and I’m looking forward to this year. I’m planning on playing first base this season and very much looking forward to it.”
The 2025 Regular Season was pretty average for Christian Walker. In that season, Walker recorded 585 at-bats. He hit 27 homers, 72 runs, and had 88 RBIs with an average of .238. Regardless of where Walker chooses to play next season, there will be plenty of pressure on him to do well.
