It’s finally time to put a bow on the class of 2024 recruiting rankings. Using the On3 Composite Rankings, College Football Network breaks down the top 10 classes of 2024, counting down from the Florida Gators to the Georgia Bulldogs and every team in between.
Our 2024 Recruiting Class Rankings show the best teams at bringing in young talent from the high school level.
2024 Recruiting Class Rankings
Unlike our transfer portal rankings, these rankings are simply a breakdown of each team’s incoming talent from the high school level. These teams should be improved next year with several impact freshmen. To no one’s surprise, the list is littered with SEC teams.
10) Florida Gators
Total Recruits: 19
Top Offensive Recruit: DJ Lagway, QB
Top Defensive Recruit: LJ McCray, DL
Florida nearly lost its status in the top 10– and perhaps even the top 20 — in the days leading up to the early signing period. Rumors were flying about multiple Florida recruits decommitting, including its duo of five-stars. However, Billy Napier and company held it together
While the Gators did lose a few of their better recruits, the core of the class was preserved, and Lagway and McCray made it to campus. The Willis High School QB had a tremendous all-star season and moved up in the final class rankings on several major recruiting sites.
The top of the class is among the best in the country, with Lagway and McCray finishing in the top 10, making the Gators one of just two schools to ink two players so highly ranked.
Myles Graham is another stellar addition and is ranked five-star by Rivals. Joining Lagway, McCray, and Graham in the top 100 are linebacker Aaron Chiles (ranked 73rd) and tight end Amir Jackson (ranked 95th). The rest of the class is a bit weaker, per recruiting rankings, compared to the other teams on this list.
The Gators signed five other top 300 recruits, with three ranked between 250 and 300. It’s not what it could have been, but Florida’s class is excellent, given the on-field results of last season.
Jadan Baugh flipped from Arkansas late in the process and has the potential to be a game-breaking running back.
Given the defensive exodus in the transfer portal, I’m interested in seeing how this class has an impact (and how quickly). The Gators signed five defensive players with a four and five-star rating, and it’s not hard to think that McCray, Graham, and Chiles could see the field early, given the defensive depth.
Teddy Foster is a guy with SEC size and length who could see some opportunities at corner. Offensively, the Gators brought in two massive, developmental tackles, Mike Williams and Noel Portnjagin, who could become eventual starters, despite their lower rankings, if they stick around.
Florida’s Recruiting Class, 2024

9) Oklahoma Sooners
Total Recruits: 27
Top Offensive Recruit: Taylor Tatum, RB
Top Defensive Recruit: David Stone, DL
There was a massive offensive line exodus from Norman during the December transfer window, so I’m surprised the Sooners didn’t attack the offensive line as heavily as some other teams on this list. Still, it’s a solid class, headlined by the top two guys.
David Stone is a massive, athletic defensive lineman with positional versatility and the ability to play early. The Sooners will likely use more defensive line depth in the SEC this year after years in the more open Big 12. Danny Okoye looks like another college-ready defensive lineman, though he could probably
Taylor Tatum looks like a prototypical downhill Oklahoma back who can break tackles and get north and south quickly. The Sooners also brought in a pair of intriguing — though smaller — receivers in the electric 5’7″ Zion Ragins and 155-pound KJ Daniels. Those two join two huge receivers, Zion Kearney and 6’6″ Ivan Carreon.
Jeremiah Newcombe looks like a future starting corner and could give the Sooners some immediate depth there. Oklahoma will need some of their young guys to step up, especially on the offensive and defensive lines, to compete in the SEC next season.
Oklahoma’s Recruiting Class, 2024
- David Stone, DL, five-star
- Taylor Tatum, RB, four-star
- Eugene Brooks, IOL, four-star

8) Auburn Tigers
Total Recruits: 21
Top Offensive Recruit: Cam Coleman, WR
Top Defensive Recruit: Amaris Williams, Edge
The story of the Auburn Tigers’ 2024 recruiting class is the receiver duo at the top. Cam Coleman and Perry Thompson are among the best receiver duos in the class.
Though Thompson slipped a bit at the end of the cycle, he’s one of the top receivers in the country. Both have size, speed, and savvy at the position and if there’s a quarterback who can deliver them the ball, both should see extensive action as freshmen.
The Tigers also brought in two four-star slot receivers, Bryce Cain and Malcolm Simmons, as they continue to reload at the receiver position.
Amaris Williams was a solid late get for the Tigers, while fellow edges Joseph Phillips and Jamonta Waller are all ranked inside the top 150 in the country. TJ Lindsey adds another high-upside lineman to the class.
Overall, it’s a solid class for the Tigers, who could use momentum and a new influx of talent. The question will still be whether or not the offensive line and quarterback positions are good enough to allow the skill guys to thrive, but this class is a step in the right direction.
Auburn’s Recruiting Class, 2024
- Cam Coleman, WR, five-star
- Perry Thompson, WR, four-star

7) LSU Tigers
Total Recruits: 29
Top Offensive Recruit: Tray’Dez Green, TE
Top Defensive Recruit: Dominick McKinley, DL
LSU has to replace quite a bit of talent from its offense and revamp a defense that was terrible last season. The recruiting class jumped in the rankings between the early and late signing periods as Dominick McKinley chose the Tigers at the 11th hour.
Brian Kelly’s team has more commits than any team in Power Five football after losing several players to the transfer portal, graduation, and the NFL Draft.
While the class ranking is slightly inflated by the numbers, I really like this class in the trenches. McKinley is an instant-impact guy, and Weston Davis has multi-year starter upside.

Elsewhere on the lines, Coen Echols and Ethan Calloway have SEC size, and CJ Jackson has the body type to become the next athletic LSU pass rusher.
The LSU running back room will be revamped this offseason, and Caden Durham could factor into the backfield plans.
It’s not a highly-ranked secondary class, but I like a few of these guys. I’ve written about PJ Woodland in the past as a guy who could outperform his three-star status, while Dashawn McBryde and Joel Rogers could see early playing time, given the depth chart.
LSU has had retention issues under Kelly, so taking a larger class could pay dividends down the line.
LSU’s Recruiting Class, 2024
- Dominick McKinley, DL, five-star
- Trey’Dez Green, TE, five-star
- Weston Davis, OT, four-star
- Dashawn McBryde, S, four-star
- Kylan Biliot, WR, four-star
- Caden Durham, RB, four-star
- Tylen Singleton, LB, four-star

- Aeron Burrell, K, three-star
6) Texas Longhorns
Total Recruits: 22
Top Offensive Recruit: Brandon Baker, OT
Top Defensive Recruit: Colin Simmons, DL
There are several scouts within the recruiting industry who believe Colin Simmons could be a dominant force as early as 2024. Accordingly, he’s the headliner for the Longhorns’ smaller yet well-balanced class.
Simmons leads a strong group of linemen as the Longhorns gear up for their move to the SEC this season. Brandon Baker is a high-level tackle who could come in and quickly contribute for the program, should they face injuries on the offensive line.
Texas also reloaded in the secondary, bringing in Kobe Black and Xavier Filsaime, two guys ranked as five-stars by at least one recruiting service. Wardell Mack and Santana Wilson are also top 250 cornerbacks.
The Longhorns don’t have many truly elite players in this class, outside of Simmons, but their 77% blue chip ratio is second only to Georgia.
While not one of the elite guys in this class from a rankings standpoint, I’ve heard that Parker Livingstone is a talented receiver who could break out with the Longhorns.
Texas’ Recruiting Class, 2024
- Collin Simmons, DL, five-star
- Brandon Baker, OT, four-star
- Kobe Black, CB, four-star
- Ryan Wingo, WR, four-star
- Xavier Filsaime, S, four-star
- Jerrick Gibson, RB, four-star
- Wardell Mack, CB, four-star
- Zima Umeozula, Edge, four-star
- Aaron Butler, Ath., four-star
- Jordan Washington, TE, four-star
- Santana Wilson, CB, four-star
- Trey Owens, QB, four-star
- Daniel Cruz, IOL, four-star
- Christian Clark, RB, four-star
- Parker Livingstone, WR, four-star
- Jordon Johnson-Rubell, S, four-star
- Tyanthony Smith, LB, four-star
- Alex January, DL, three-star
- Freddie Dubose Jr., WR, three-star
- Nate Kibble, IOL, three-star
- Melvin Hills, DL, three-star
- Michael Kern, K, three-star
5) Miami Hurricanes
Total Recruits: 27
Top Offensive Recruit: Joshisa Trader, WR
Top Defensive Recruit: Justin Scott, DL
The jury is still out on Mario Cristobal’s in-game coaching ability, but the guy can recruit. This class is highlighted by the country’s best defensive line group. Headlined by five-star interior linemen Justin Scott and Armando Blount, plus five-star edge Marquise Lightfoot, the class features five linemen ranked in the top 300 and four ranked inside the top 100.
The receivers are equally impressive. Led by Joshisa Trader and Ny Carr, the Hurricanes reloaded at receiver, with four top 300 recruits at the receiver and tight end positions.
MORE: Miami 2024 College Football Schedule
It’s a top-heavy class, as less than half of Miami’s recruits are “Blue Chippers,” a fact that doesn’t necessarily bode well for the Hurricanes, at least according to Bud Elliott. Still, the top of this class is fantastic and features five defensive linemen, four receivers, and two defensive backs.
Three-star offensive tackle Juan Minaya has plenty of size and length, and could be a nice developmental offensive tackle for a Miami team that hasn’t had an offensive lineman drafted since 2017.
The development and impact of the big three defensive linemen in this class will ultimately decide if it lives up to its billing. Blount, Scott, and Lightfoot can potentially be multi-year starters and impact players for the Hurricanes.
Miami’s Recruiting Class, 2024
- Justin Scott, DL, five-star
- Armando Blount, DL, five-star
- Marquise Lightfoot, Edge, five-star
- Joshisa Trader, WR, four-star

4) Oregon Ducks
Total Recruits: 27
Top Offensive Recruit: Gatlin Bair, WR
Top Defensive Recruit: Sione Laulea, CB
Prior to February, Oregon had not received a National Letter of Intent — or even a commitment — from any five-star player in the class of 2024.
That changed when Gatlin Bair finally ended his recruitment, choosing the Ducks over Michigan. Bair is the top recruit to come out of Idaho in years and can add an immediate spark to the offense.
The receiver class is excellent, with four of the top 30 wideouts going to Eugene. The Ducks also prioritized their secondary, landing three of the top 15 corners and two of the top 15 safeties. Corner Sione Laulea wasn’t highly recruited out of high school but grew to nearly 6’4″ in Junior College and is now the consensus top defender from the JUCO ranks.
Oregon is one of the few teams on this list that also succeeded in the transfer portal, a seemingly insignificant fact that lifts the impact of their freshman class. The Ducks would likely prefer to have a few more high-profile lineman in their class, but it’s hard to argue that any team outside of Auburn matched their effectiveness at the receiver position.
Oregon’s class is littered with players who are considered outliers on one of the main recruiting services, which is usually a good indication of potential impact players. 247 is bullish on Oregon’s incoming defensive line class, ranking Elijah Rushing as a five-star while defensive lineman Aydin Breland just missed the five-star cut on the site.
ESPN loves Oregon’s corners even more than the other sites, ranking Ify Obidegwu and Dakota Fields as the sixth and ninth-best corners in the class. The “Worldwide Leader in Sports” also gave Jac’Qawn McRoy a top 40 overall ranking.
Rivals loves receivers Jeremiah McClellan and Ryan Pellum, ranking each inside the top 100, substantially higher than the rest of the services, while linebacker Dylan Williams also lands inside their top 75.
All of this indicates that these are players with the potential to outplay their consensus rankings. Those high-upside players greatly benefit a team that already has depth.
Oregon’s Recruiting Class, 2024
- Gatlin Bair, WR, five-star
- Sione Laulea, CB, four-star (JUCO)
- Elijah Rushing, Edge, four-star
- Aaron Flowers, S, four-star
- Ify Obidegwu, CB, four-star
- Jeremiah McClellan, WR, four-star
- Aydin Breland, DL, four-star
- Dakota Fields, CB, four-star

- A.J. Pugliano, TE, three-star
- De’Juan Riggs, RB, three-star
- Trent Ferguson, OT, three-star
- Jack Ressler, WR, three-star
3) Ohio State Buckeyes
Total Recruits: 22
Top Offensive Recruit: Jeremiah Smith, WR
Top Defensive Recruit: Eddrick Houston, Edge
But for ESPN weirdly ranking him fourth, Jeremiah Smith was nearly the first consensus No. 1 overall player in the country since Rashan Gary in 2016. His route-running abilities and athleticism make him an instant impact starter and would be enough to make any class great. He’s paired with borderline five-star Mylan Smith
But Ohio State didn’t just land Smith. After Nick Saban retired, Ryan Day swooped in to flip Julian Sayin from Alabama (technically through the transfer portal). He’s paired with Georgia native Air Noland to give the Buckeyes two of the top five quarterbacks in the class.
Defensively, Eddrick Houston narrowly missed out on five-star composite status but is firmly entrenched in that status by 247, with him ranked 18th nationally. In-state cornerbacks Aaron Scott Jr. and Bryce West are ranked within the top 100 overall.
MORE: 2024 Recruiting Class QB Rankings
The rest of the class doesn’t quite have the high volume of elite players that the top two teams have, as the Buckeyes signed nine total top 150 recruits, still one of the best marks in the country.
The story of this class for Ohio State is its strong presence in the south. The Buckeyes pulled multiple players from Georgia, Florida, and Texas, as well as top 10 players from Tennessee and Virginia. It’s a balanced class with 12 offensive and 10 defensive players.
Safety Leroy Roker from Fort Myers, Florida, is a guy who could surprise some people and outplay his three-star ranking.
Ohio State’s Recruiting Class, 2024

2) Alabama Crimson Tide
Total Recruits: 26
Top Offensive Recruit: Ryan Williams, WR
Top Defensive Recruit: Jaylen Mbakwe, CB
Alabama was still able to pull off a stellar class, despite losing a couple of recruits when Nick Saban retired. While Alabama’s prized quarterback signee transferred to Ohio State immediately after the legendary coach retired, the rest of the class is excellent.
Landing Ryan Williams is a huge win for Kalen DeBoer as the standout receiver took his recruitment down to the wire, visiting multiple “Blue Bloods” down the stretch. On the other side of the ball, Jaylen Mbakwe, Zay Mincey, and Zabien Brown are all five-star, the former two being consensus top five players at the position.
All told, Alabama has 18 players ranked inside the top 300, including 11 inside the top 100 by at least one recruiting service. The Tide closed well, landing Noah Carter and Williams late in the process.
The receiver class is intriguing, with Williams being joined by four-star recruits Amari Jefferson and Rico Scott. Running backs Daniel Hill and Kevin Riley and tight end Caleb Odom add two intriguing, highly-ranked skill players to the mix.
The Tide pulled two under-the-radar recruits from in-state Central High School in safety Red Morgan and defensive lineman Isaia Faga, who could contribute earlier than some expect.
Alabama’s Recruiting Class, 2024
- Ryan Williams, WR, five-star

1) Georgia Bulldogs
Total Recruits: 28
Top Offensive Recruit: Nathaniel Frazier, RB
Top Defensive Recruit: Ellis Robinson IV, CB
Georgia brought in a loaded defensive class, landing five five-star recruits on that side of the ball. Headlined by Ellis Robinson IV — one of just two consensus top-five recruits in the class — the Bulldogs added players at every level of the defense who could have immediate impacts.
On the defensive line, they picked up five-star Joseph Jonah-Ajonye along with Jordan Thomas and Nasir Johnson, two other top 150 recruits. Justin Greene, a high four-star, has huge upside as well.
The linebacker class, led by five-star talents Justin Williams and Chris Cole, is probably the best in the country. Williams is the top linebacker on all four services, while Cole is considered a top 40 player by every service except Rivals. The Bulldogs also brought in high four-star Kris Jones.
In addition to Ellis, the Bulldogs landed top 50 recruit Demello Jones and borderline top 100 recruit Ondre Evans. They also landed safety KJ Bolden at the last minute, a guy some pundits think is the best safety recruit in years.
The offensive class isn’t quite as strong as the defensive side, but it’s still impressive.
Nathaniel Frazier leads the way, followed by fellow running back Dwight Phillips and tight end Jaden Redell, a top 100 player on On3 and ESPN. The Bulldogs also added four top 300 offensive linemen, led by tackle Michael Uini and guard Daniel Calhoun. Quarterback Ryan Puglisi is a consensus top-10 quarterback in the class, topping out at No. 6 on ESPN’s rankings.
MORE: Why is There an Early Signing Day in College Football Recruiting?
At the skill positions, the Bulldogs pulled top 150 receiver NiTareon Tuggle out of Notre Dame’s backyard and took a third running back in four-star Chauncey Bowens. Not that the Bulldogs need any other accolades in this class, but they also signed the nation’s top punter, Drew Miller.
If you’re looking for a recruit who could outperform his recruiting ranking, don’t be surprised if we hear defensive tackle Nnamdi Ogboko’s name in the future. The behemoth defensive lineman from South Garner High School in North Carolina has only played football for a couple of years but has massive athletic upside.
